If you in CA you better stock up now.

Very soon you have to have a back ground check.

Governor moon beam just signed that in to law.

Gunny Time this week had Huey with Dillon Aero and later had a Stoner 63 on the show. Some serious amounts of ammo down range! Never gets old!

Gone are the days when you could walk into a gun store or sports shop and walk to the gun dept. and find 22s in stock. Now we live in Obama world! Where the govt.buys up all the popular rounds. And don't forget the peppers who buy pallets of 22 for when this county inplods.

Actually, you can blame the .22 shortage on Bill Ruger and the 10/22. In the old days of single shots and bolt actions, people could plink all day on 50 rounds. Nowadays they are lucky if 50 rounds lasts them 5 minutes. People in this thread mention burning 500 to 1000 rounds in a single afternoon. That's where the inventory went, along with a few million more shooters.

The Ruger 10/22 has been in production for over 50 years? I fail to see the correlation to today's problems.

Has anyone tried any subsonic .22 lr? Was it quiet and how did it work in an autoloader rifle?

TBS

Autoloaders are not reliable with anything but their design load. I shoot .22 shorts from a Remington 572, and they are very quiet. For that matter, even a .22LR is quieter than from an autoloader because there is no blowback breech noise.

I always thought the 22 shortage was because of the preppers. And the president of today.

What you need in this Nation is more mental health it is very easy to blame a object for the killings in this country. Did gun control work in the Warsaw ghettos, or anywhere else?

Maybe the .223 shortage, and large caliber handgun ammo. The .22LR shortage is due to the proliferation of autoloaders. It's all going downrange. I never saw a shortage of hunting rifle cartridges or shotgun shells. There may have been a shortage of .223, but you could always find .243. .22LR was never a big profit center for manufacturers, and I think the increased demand caught them flat footed. The new factories coming online should do better at keeping up with demand.
