OK, you just reminded me of a funny story about Mass. So I'm working outside of Boston and it was during the time when there was a run on guns/ammo etc. so I get the bright idea that I might be able to find some .45 ACP reloading components in the area since back home everyone was out of stock.
So I ask some guys at work if there was a gun store around with reloading components and they all look at me like I'm from Mars or something. So I google and find some near by and ask them if they are familar with where the store was etc. They were like "I wouldn't go there at night by myself".
So I go there at night by myself and I have a rental with plates that might draw attention (don't remember what they were but it wasn't a liberal state from what I remember). Sure enough, I park and there's "gang banger's" all around on the side walk. So I just acted like I knew where I was and belonged there.
I get in the store and am looking around. Not your typical gun store. It was kind of odd compared to what I'm used to. So I notice some silhouette targets kind of hidden away in a corner and asked about them because all their targets on display were pretty lame. One of the guys behind the counter said "Oh, those aren't for sale and you didn't see them by the way". That started a conversation on how it's "illegal to shoot at the human form" and I'm like are you serious? Then they inform me that's (and a litany of other things) why they all live in NH.
Turns out they did have some components but since I'm out of state they wouldn't sell to me ... I think it's one of those states where you have to have a permit to buy ammo but I wasn't buying ammo .. just components. I had been traveling to Boston enough to figure out it's better to go through Manchester than Logan and I would actually stay in Nashua. So because I was flying out of Manchester, I finally talked him into selling me some brass that I put in my checked baggage. When I got home I had one of those TSA cards in my bag so I know they saw it but they didn't take it.
It was an interesting experience. I feel for those that live there and have to put up with that crap.
