( Take this for example. How do you know it will perform better? Based on what? ))

Go take some time and do some reading on various website. If you read somethings online you would know all about this simple topic or coralation.

( Show me the tests that show that an engine running synthetic or any other combination is better than dino oil.)

See reply #1

( ( No excessive wear from cold starts or anything else that synthetic is supposed to do better. ))

See reply #1 and then try a better oil; maybe something above a group 3 for starters.

( The only thing that is concrete is what has been shown to be better. I'll again use the super unleaded issue. ))

I guess the motorvac is a scam and cleaning the injectors from low ocatane fuel is another scam.

( (Yea I know it has better chemicals, etc. but does it really matter in the end? ))

In the end /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif That has gotta hurt. When comparing oils the higher ZDDP and TBN always win. Again, a kid.....nevermind

How does a person get so intensely interested in oil? You haven't been sipping the stuff have you? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I personally think it is fun. Just watch people FLIP OUT.

So, GSXR,
What about filters?? I have been comparing prices between Amsoil Filters and others such as Baldwin and Wix, the way it looks to me, if I use the Amsoil filters and go with their recommended filter changes over using the other filters with the vehicle manufacturer's change time frame, I will save money using the Amsoil filters. By the way, I am going to use Amsoil oil and go with their extended drains. What is your opinion, (I know you HAVE to have one), on this plan??

I did and they contradict half of what you say. That's why I asked for real proof of which you are not going to give.

We have done the oil tests on a complete fleet of trucks, tractors, and vehicles using synthetic. Our oil tests were not one bit different than using a good dino oil. That's why I would like to see some research showing different.

well then cowboy, if you reseached all this to prove me wrong you should have the data right in front of you...

You use Rotella right? THAT IS A DINO OIL!! There will not be any difference because you changed zero dino in is dino out..Use a REAL synthetic and see the difference...

Sorry I forget you think Rotella (group 3) is a real synthetic oil and and it is the same as a PAO or ester oil...

Powerhouse,
Amsoil (made by Baldwin) are good, Wix and Mobil filters are good. As you stated you can’t do longer drains when not using Amsoil filters. Will it save you money in the longer run, yes.

On the flip side how many miles are you doing a year?

If you would read the response we used a SYNTHETIC oil. We used synthetic over a 2 year period. NO DIFFERENCE in the tests at all related to wear. And aside from wear patterns what the heck difference does it make?

And no I don't think Rotella is a synthetic but I do think it's a good oil.
