An Amish tractor? Say what?

Local Control? I am curious how much discipline the young men have as to what may or may not appear on their smart phone screens.

I am sure the world and technology is changing faster then the clergy can control it

Your not the only one. I don't understand any of it. And my feeling are that if you have a belief then you need to stick with it. If you think tractors are bad, then tractors are bad. You don't stick stupid wheels on them and then allow them. You don't use battery tools because electricity is a bad thing. None of it makes sense, and the "slipping down the slippery slope" and changing you "beliefs" because they are more expedient seems hypocritical to me.

Ok, you can have a gasoline engine powered baler, but it has to be pulled by horses and have a stationary engine. NO. If engines are bad ALL engines are bad. And if power tools are bad ALL power tools are bad. If telephones are bad, then ALL telephones are bad. You can't have one outside in the rain.

Jeez...Hold to your beliefs or change your beliefs. Don't do things half axed, and make concessions to reality. Oh sure a nice JD tractor and now you have to wreck the tires.. yeah, that will keep you on the "straight and narrow". Uh huh.

But what do I know. People do stupid things. I have done a few myself.

I agree or seems pretty stupid. Aside from being pointless a lot of time was wasted that could have been better spent doing that.

One of the very few times I have disagreed with James.....
Religion is so very personal, and to each their own,

I am catholic, or at least was born catholic, and I have much more respect for the Amish religion than I do the Catholic religion, although I believe all the precepts of the catholic church, how does one continue to have faith in the actual church after finding out all of the sins of its leaders?

I still believe in Mother Mary, and Jesus Christ, but having a sustainable belief in the Church has been an impossible feat for me

I often consider documenting mine. If I could ever recall all of them it would literally fill a book...maybe even make an interesting short film or OSHA documentary.

I’d have something to smile about in the old folks home for sure....

If I documented mine, I would have more posts than some of the people on TBN

:D

One of the nice things about getting older is forgetting some of the more egregious errors we make in life :)

The craftsmanship philosophy gets out of hand around here. Some people tout the Amish as great builders. As with any community, there are good and bad. I've saw some very bad.

I think I've posted this before, but I visited some of the RV places around Elkhart, IN. including one that sometimes tells people how great their RVs are because they're built by Amish. I watched a guy with a power screwdriver doing some of the assembly, and he was stripping about every third screw. Needless to say, I never have, and never would, buy that brand of RV.
