When do you plan to stop living in the distance past and start living in the present? 😀

If there was an internet during the horse and buggy days I can imagine the same conversations taken place (An Automobile?) when the automobile started to replace the horse. Many businesses dependent upon horses went out of business in a short amount of time. Somehow the country kept on progressing.

My motorcycle can get 45 MPG but with the above gas prices the EV can easily more than double the motorcycles MPG as far as fuel cost.

Something to be said for the freedom a bike gives that is intangible/priceless.

The EV was expensive so I put full coverage on it , 1200 bucks a year difference can buy a fair amount of fuel for an ICE rig.

ps. As a town trip runner the EV can do round trips for under a buck easily. the truck will cost me over $3
My diesel truck will cost $3 just warming up and then driving out of my driveway onto the Farm to Market road. 😅

That sounds a bit like building a new gas station, but overlook the installation of tanks to store the fuel in.

As far as I know, there isn't readily available electricity everywhere.

Well obviously they would not place a charging station where there is not a grid supply,
at least not yet.

Tesla could put large solar canopies up and c install back up storage (virtual grid) on site as well if the grid loads need to be spread out.
Texas and Australia are beginning to show of how successful these back up systems can be at balancing Grid load and improving resistance to brown outs. Now they are also including homeowners as well if they want to participate with power walls.

I am sure they (Tesla) models grid load at a possible location as they even have grid optimizing programs, just like SpaceX does with their projects.

There are advantages, to having some of the most capable supercomputers on the planet.

Well I would love to keep posting ...

But, gonna get chewed out if I don't get some kindling split for the Blaze King and get that fresh Oil and Filter in and on my honey's Cummins powered RAM , plus the batteries "Hah Ha" are acting up in my RAM 3500.:)

I better get to it as Gramps used to say, We are Burning Daylight.[/QUOTE]

Tesla's Mega Supercharger Counts on Diesel Generator | Sept 2023 Blog.

From SF Gate: “But as with many Tesla-related things, there is a secret, thinly obscured by an Oz-like curtain, at the Harris Ranch Supercharger. Hidden in plain sight across the way from the Harris Ranch Supercharger’s main stations, behind a Shell station, is a small diesel plant that has helped power Tesla’s footprint.”

At least you provided a link. More to the story instead of the bit you quoted to try to imply the superchargers are supplied soley by a diesel generator.

Hidden in plain sight across the way from the Harris Ranch Supercharger’s main stations, behind a Shell station, is a small diesel plant that has helped power Tesla’s footprint.”

Diesel plant and diesel generator could be of extremely different capacities.

It’s unclear just what percentage of Supercharger power at Harris Ranch is being generated via diesel, as even apps devoted to tracking what kind of energy is delivered to Superchargers have no idea. But understand, generators play a vital role in backup power, or when extra power is needed to meet demand. Power outages are happening more often so standby, industrial generators are going to be more and more common in businesses, even at an EV supercharger location.

Experts at Tesla and other energy organizations have said that the superchargers operate much like your home, drawing electricity from the grid and only having an estimate of where the power came from--- thus our breakdown above for the US.

Bottom line, Tesla gets power for the superchargers the same way everybody gets power for their home or devices. When it’s busy, they will turn on a diesel generator to add extra energy to handle the demand. If there’s a power outage, the diesel generator will fire up to provide power as well, just like at a hospital, data center or any other business that can’t afford to sit idle-- in the dark.

So in the end the superchargers at Harris Ranch get power from the grid and use a DIESEL PLANT for emergency power.
