It's gotta be right up there with leaving the restroom in the restaurant with a toilet paper tail!

That just reminded me to take the strip loins out of the truck! Not that it would hurt. Getting cold again, -12c, hardly "nice" BBQing weather.

I take that back. They were RIB STEAKs. What is that anyway? Every time I go to that store the names on the steaks or roasts are different.

Rib steaks, I believe, are the same thing as a bone-in Rib Eye...IMHO, the best of the best. I like them better than a filet.

They're a bit expensive, but I haven't bought steaks to cook at home in years except ribeyes. I like them better than any other steak.

I've never done that with steaks on the grill, but I did recently put a pizza directly on the rack in the oven, only to learn later that I forgot to remove the cardboard from the bottom side of it.:pullinghair: Yep, hate it when something like that happens.

You too, eh? :D

Yes it did say "Bone In" I like kind of a greasy steak on the grill. Someone should post a thread on what the $^$% does a steak cost near you? I generally only buy them when discounted for quick sale. These were around $20.00 CDN for two medium size steaks (and bone), regular 30% higher.

I cut meat for years before I realized that my liver couldn't take the abuse that meat cutters are known for. We had an old NCR labeler machine that had "slug keys"...an entire side of beef required 20 slugs, no more. Chuck, rib, short loin, sirloin, rump, round and various cuts of belly meat. Variations on any of those of course depending on whether they were roasts or steaks. Now I don't understand anything.

Yup!
Rib Eye steaks absolutely do have the best flavor.
Problem is: They are FULL of fat!
I love steaks, but buy only whole tenderloins.
I cut and trim them myself, then freeze (Vacuum Seal) in packages of two.

Decent rib steak about $US8-9/lb. around here. My definition of "decent" would be minimum 1 1/2" thick so probably 1 1/2 lbs. or about $US15. Beware Mexican beef...lacks flavor IMHO. Btw Canada is where my favorite steak house now gets their meat.

Isn't the only way you could get a valid comparison is to quote a price per pound. I see ribeyes in the grocery stores for $10 to $12 a pound; sometimes more. But I buy several ribeyes (usually a half dozen; no bone) from Sam's Club, then vacuum seal them individually. One is usually big enough for both my wife and me. I think the last ones I bought were just under a pound and a half each. Sometimes they get up to $9.95 or even $10.95 a pound, but recently $7.95 a pound.
