Terry,

I may have missed a post, but what is a yard of concrete going for down your way ? Approximate is ok, both finished and just the concrete...looking for a comparison price...wanna start on my shop this summer and starting the pricing process...hmmm, wonder if a "barn raisin" for TBNrs with a huge crawfish boil, with obligatory cold beverages, would generate any interest ? LOL, worth a thought !

Hi Rich..!

Concrete Costs -

Oh I can tell you EGGS-actly what my costs were....I am the General Contractor for this project....

.....the local "country" batch plant just 11 miles up the road was a bargain at $77 per yard for 3500 psi mix...no "short load" fees for topping up a large pour either....the "big city" plants about 30 miles away wanted from $105 to $150 a yard plus short charges....

My carpenters and I did the form-work, plastic and bar...that was about 32 manhours total, 16 of them cost me $20 per and materials for the form were about $1500....I.hired a crew to place and finish the mud....went on a recommendation from the batch plant operator....a local contractor from the next small town over....came right out and gave an estimate the same day I called him....and he and his men did a superb job for $1400....did a nice hard finish for eventual staining on the main part of the floor, troweled in two "roll-in" shower stalls and made a nice non-skid finish (fine horsehair broom) on the porch.....you can roll a nickle across that floor with hardly a bump...

Raisins -

It would be a bit of a drive for us Central Texas folks, but keep the offer open....plenty of TBNet-ers up there in Gawds Country....the only Folks I have in Louisiana is a cousin in Monroe.....kind of a long detour to look him up and stop by for some sweat and bugs on the way....My cousin Marcel.....YEAH, I KNOW....it's "JOHNSON" not "LEDBETTER"....

Anyway....Stranger things have happened....never thought I'd find myself in Bedias or Baghdad either, for that matter....

Whatever happens...

Be Careful Out There...

...so I sez to Precious Bride, I sez....

"...Hunnybun...by the time I'm done with that concrete, you'll be able to do your housework with a firehose, a yard blower and a roll of duct-tape..."

$800 worth of dangerous chemistry, three days of scrubbing and schrpritzing and rinsing and repeating later my hands are rough enough to put a run in panty hose just by waving at em across the rooom and I have made a plain concrete floor look like...dirt...

Concrete Stain - web.jpg

Tho Precious Bride is extatic, I fear my ancestors are going to visit me in my dreams and smack me... So BE it....when PB is happy...my world spins in greased grooves...

NOW...it's about time to start hanging some rafters....the "Raising" part of the barn raising...

Hard to see for sure what you did. Is the concrete dyed or did you stain it after it dried?

Nice to see the posts in the ground!!!!

Eddie...I looked at his picture and then thought he was just kidding us after rereading his post...I don't think he has put any concrete down yet...that's why he said he worked so hard to make it look like dirt...If I'm right...it is dirt LOL
