Thanks for the info Mike, sounds like (unless as you suggested two very different measuring methods are being applied) that there is no significant practical difference that is going to keep me up at night. Either 460 or 400x will work out fine.

What I would like to see is the mounting system - and what stays on the tractor. Will the 400x use the current 'claw' affair of the smaller loaders or something more like the riser column the 521-and-up loaders use on the bigger tractors?

The one picture published doesn't quite seem to show enough to tell.

Finally......the 4720 will be available with a cab...maybe by the end of the year. The cab will look as good as the 5X20 series. A mockup was on display for the dealers in attendance.

Also the 5X25 will have the sloped hood look of the 6000 and 7000 series.....It should be here in November. I was getting quotes for a 5320 today.....putting everything on hold....

Got a quick glance at the new brochure for the 4x20 series tractor. Dealer only had one copy so I couldn't take it with me. Series starts with a 4120 at 43 hp and goes to the 4720 with 50 hp. I believe there were 5 models. All had the 4 cylinder turbo PowerTech engine. Tractors look real nice with the downsloping hood.

Also supposed to get the new diesel HPX Gators in June.

I hope the 4720 is REAL ugly...(I think to myself as I wax my new 4710)

Actually I don't care...I LOVE MY TRACTOR!

I'm not sure why Deere would do that. It doesn't make sense to me. With that many models, I don't see how they can price one model that much more over the other with such minimal HP gains. I think two or three models would be more logical. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I didn't get to look real closely at the different specs. They might be equipped differently according to model, either 2 or 4 wheel drive, lift capacity or transmissions available. Won't have to guess too much longer.

I'll try and get info at work tomorrow for you guys. It see what they say. This new model hype is really bugging me. I am wanting to see what they look like.

Are there any other JD Green tractors with the curved loader arms? The reason I ask is that yesterday I saw a flat bed semi on the interstate with JD Tractors. One of them had curved loader arms and appeared to be about the size of a 47xx. Unfortunately I was on a secondary road going over an overpass and could not follow the truck.

The loaders and tractors are being delivered around here. A friend ordered a new loader for his 4700 and he got one of the new ones.
