So my first mow was pointless as the grass was really not as long as it looked. The only thing I effectivly cut (with my spanking new blades) was a sand stone.

I went out today to cut the now lush and fast growing grass, only to find myself leaving huge stripes. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Some time later I discovered that I had been given the blades for the 54" deck not the 60" deck. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I cannot recall what I asked for, "blades for a 60" deck" - or - "blades for a BX" - or - "blades for a BX2200". I'm guessing it was one of those combinations, and I'm certain that I would never have mentioned a 54" deck. In fact, I gave them my old blades to sharpen at the same time I bought my new ones.

I'm thinking that they should exchange them even though I used them, as they gave me the wrong size. This is their bussiness, not mine. I wish I'd have noticed the difference, but what the heck, I didn't.

Do you think they will, should, give me new ones, even though I used, (dinged) the 54" blades? I'm just looking for a reality check, as I know when one is too close to the situation, perspective can be fuzzy.

In reality, no!...But what the heck...you may have a dealer that wants a happy customer and repeat business. Won't cost anything to ask!

Tell em exactly what you told us....if they are a reputable dealer I would think that they could work something out for you.....especially after giving you the wrong size blades.How many people measure blades before installing them??....very few. Good luck!!

I bought a set of blades for my B7100 once, when I got home I opened them only to find that they in no way resembled my original ones. Upon return, it was found that the part number on box was correct but the wrong blades had been packaged. I now always check them or any other ordered part at the service counter before I leave because of this.

Did you get those blades at dealer R or Dealer S?

Not sure what the answer is...but you may have a little leverage if you turned in your blades and at the same time asked for new ones, and they gave you the wrong ones...

After all, you had nothing to compare to, since you were paying them to sharpen the originals...

Bought them at R. We'll find out today how they'll take care of me. Frankly, I'm pissed that my lawn looks bad, and that I had to take off the deck and blades again. I don't get to pull them from the shelf, they do. If they don't take care of me, then I'll not use them again. Simple logic. Wrong part = replace wrong part.

Verifying parts should be the first thing done before installation. Doesn't anyone out there take personal responsibility anymore? Why is it every time that the slightest mishap takes place people immediately assume the role of a “victim”? Maybe that’s why everything is so expensive everywhere and you can't take two steps without bumping into a lawyer.

The fact is, I asked the man at the counter for blades for my mower, and I gave him my old ones to sharpen. He gave me three blades and I paid him. I put them on and realized the error.

The dealer recognized they gave me the wrong parts and exchanged them with no problem. As for me being the cause of everything being so expensive, I think you need to look a little deeper in the mirror. It **** sure wasn't my generation that has eroded society to where we are now, and it wasn't the one before yours either.

I'd say the man being paid the wage is responsible for giving me the right parts. This is especially true since they keep them in the back and make the parts selection for me. If it was on the shelf and I had to select them, I am reasonably confident I'd have found the error before installation.

None the less the dealer agreed with me with no questions asked. If he hadn't, I'd understand their position but I would also no longer shop there, as they would have demonstrated a lack of accountability for their “professional” actions. As it were, they stepped up to the plate and I am VERY pleased.

I don't fault them for my having to go through removing the deck twice, and they didn't fault me for spinning the bladed before realizing the error.

When all is said and done, I've come to know my dealer a little better /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, and now I know you a little better too! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Jeeze...looks like I hit a nerve. My apologies, I probably deserved that one but you shouldn't condemn a whole generation because of one back-handed remark. Actually some of my closest friends are GenX types...well not really but you seem a reasonable type of guy. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
