Why do you care so much from afar?

I think the issue was wether he was a skilled operator and genius or a mechanical hack.

When I first watched his video it was quite entertaining compared to commercial tv.

After he hacked up the Dodge pickup, I changed my mind.

Tipping the crane because he was running it up a narrow, steep, curving driveway without brakes sealed the deal.

He痴 a genuine hack.

And, yes, I know it痴 Pettibone, but apparently my spell check doesn稚 agree unless I override it.

Anybody remember the old Pettibone Carry Lift from the 1960痴?

I had a 12 ton Dynalift D4P80 ZOOM BOOM. Same thing. Drum brake with hand lever on tranny output shaft. Ran out of propane on top of property and we were going to convert back to gas. So I had sold a friend an 82 Malibu that had been on propane, but he switched it to gas. But still had some propane in the tank, so we took a green cheapie garden hose, Malibu to ZOOM BOOM. Something happened coming down a steep hill, and I lost power. Had one good application of brakes, then nothing. Drum brake did not stop 12 tons on the move. Barely any steering. Ran over, and bent, some steel drag frames, sheit my pants, but a situation that one could fortunately laugh at.

Probably majority people livin today never knew de world of gravity down and lattice boom machine let alone cable operated backhoe dat built dis country. Most only seen hydraulic and don't know world was cable before dat. How many ever seen a cable run dump trailer or know forklift and standard pallet came out of World War 2?

War forces quick change in material handling. Pretty sure it was Yale built a long 3 wheeler dock crane wid maybe 15 foot boom back in 40s on air tires. Boom speedline only wid shallow U pully so machine could side tug & lay down. Boom folded about 12 feet from ground, position changed by backhooking & using winch. Bar held boom in position so winch could go back to work. Machine was just better den useless, but beat rigging pole or yardarm even back when men knew how to do such. Cotton tires pretty much dictated wood blocks to prevent blowout when picking.
Same tricycle run gear also available wid forklift could pick more then tires could carry if you got 10 acres to turn.

Airforce came up wid design similar to Pettibone, all electric wid Edison batterys sitting on turret for counterweight. Nice toy long as it stayed on concrete, crab steer.

Lot of failed ideas in cranes like Baker on 8 air tires. Good lift on no footprint.

Good site on mobil cranes here.

If “perfectly good english” is code for you can barley write at all. Most people get a headache trying to read it and you live in the woods making moonshine all day.

I don't think it's a matter of what school education one have or may not have.

To me, I see it in a way of respecting and having pride on your own country, the language you speak and you write.

English is not my main language, but I try my best to not butcher it too much at least.

As 4570 said before, you do spend more time writing in that way, than the proper way and with today's auto correct features on computers and phones, it's not that hard to write properly.
