I kinda like being tracked.

If the cops ever want to know where I have been I can just hand them my phone, it remembers better than I do.

I think if they really really want to know where you were, they can get the data without your phone. FISA court especially.

Hmmm ..... wish I were smarter. Too many software programs, too many sub-programs. My cell phone is always off - unless I want to make a call. Call me - leave a message. If it's important I'll call back when I turn the darn thing on. It stays in the house unless I'm going on a day long trip.

It's a phone. I have several cameras and Garmin GPS units. The keyboard is ridiculously small and a real PITA to use. I don't use it to search for anything/anywhere - I have my computer here.

At least the thing makes/receives phone calls. That's all I ask.

And NO - I do not need a new cell phone & new program every year or so.

A recent movie had a great line......"It's not that I Have Anything to Hide, It's that there is Nothing I Want You to See".

As a non-criminal, there are various points I could raise, but two of the key ones are - the tech is not infallible, and the people behind the scenes assessing this tsunami of information definitely aren't.....

On a separate note, that ^ issue bears consideration by anybody heading out into NoWhere, relying just on their cell phone.....

On the human-factors (control end) side of things....... there was an event in the USA. Shortly after that event, a family that had absolutely nothing to do with what happened had the misfortune to have 3 different members of the family do individual searches on the internet for single items (common household) that were use in that event. A heavy-tac team executed a no-knock take down, on innocent people, based on those internet searches.

That family survived intact, but sometimes those errors don't work out so well. I remember reading about a drug raid at the wrong address...... one of the elderly couple sitting at home watching TV had a heart attack after the door was breached; didn't survive.
