Annoying safety feature

My 2910 doesn't have the kill switch, but I use this set-the-brake-lightly trick to allow incing the tractor forward or backward without subsequent rollback. It's very handy for getting aligned to attach an implement.

Years ago my brother got a new riding mower and was showing his son how it worked. Son climbed up to start mowing the field (big ol' yard) and my brother's heart sank when the mower would not start.

Gas is full. Battery seemed to be good the mower wouldn't do a thing.

After about 10 minutes of head scratching my brother sit on the mower and it starts. This time he leaves the mower running as his son gets ready to take the controls. My brother gets up and the the mower quits... Then and only then did he learn of the safety device, and it was disabled in the next few minutes.

Ain't nothing worse than having to stop and get off to pick up a stick, turtle, toy etc and having to restart each time.

I agree. However your wife"s attorney will not after you are dead. I believe if all this safety stuff was removed from these machines, we could clean up the gene pool.

That's lame. I'm tired of paying not for other people's mistakes, but for lawyers who capitalize on them. Wanna clean up the gene pool? Start with the ambulance chasers who convince people they're "victims" for being stupid.

We have built a system for the lawyers to make money off of peoples mistakes... seemed like it really started to get bad when one person spilled "Hot" coffee in their lap? Its all been downhill from there...

I bought a "used" 3410 about two years ago with 16 hours on it. My engine has never shut off when I get off. Is this feature supposed to be on a 3410? Perhaps it was already disabled when I bought it.

Try to get off of the seat with the PTO engaged or in gear and it should shut off. If it does not, this would be a problem.

I have had the post hole digger engaged and have gotten off and it has not turned off. If the 3410 is supposed to do this, I will check it out. Thanks

Instead of totally disabling the switch or putting a on/off switch that you may forget to turn back on use a horn button switch and mount it on the dashboard on the side of the hydro pedal. If you need to stand up and line your pallet forks up you have to actively push the button to bypass the seat safety switch. If you need to nudge the tractor an inch or two you can press the button and nudge. But with the button switch it will alway return to on and maybe save your life if you fall off your tractor. I would be **** careful when your off your tractor and doing the nudging also. Hope this is clear.
