Just finished the 50 hr. on my bx2200. Pretty much a breeze to do except it took a little time to get the UDT in.
Yes, per the dealer, I used standard UDT in the bx. He said that they use it, but it seems that the bx doesn't especially like it.
I am trying to get caught up between the rain drops, so as soon as the service was done I started contouring a root filled hill behind the house with the box blade. I had 3 maples taken out in April and the stumps pulled. I was yanking all kinds of old roots out, and started noticing a squeal I never had before when I lifted a good load in the bucket. I also noticed a difference in the sound of the tranny. I had it working pretty hard, but have run it like this before, and never noticed the squeal. I checked the fluid level, and its fine.
Has anybody run standard UDT in a bx??? The manual states Super UDT, but then has a blurb about checking with your local dealer and following his reccomendation. Does Kubota ship them with the hst filled or does the dealer fill the hst during prep?
The dealer doesn't stock the Super UDT, so I guess I'll have to get it via ups. Anybody have a good source?
On another note, I guess (maybe) the rain is letting up. Boy, Doesn't that sun feel great /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif!!!
Thanks in advance.

Davel... how long did it take for you to complete the 50 hour maintenance? Did you have a hard time getting any of the filters off? I will be doing mine in two to three weeks.

Hi Dave, I did mine this past Monday night after work. My dealer said not to change the UDT until next service said it was a waste of money. I too hear the squeal you speak of when using the loader. I made sure all my hyd were released when I did the service and I had to put in one quart of new SUDT when the filter was changed. I also noticed that my HYD lines were very hot after using the loader to move my new aerator into the shed. I will check tomorrow to make sure I didn't overfill the hydr. Do you know if this would make it hot , I mean haaving to much fluid in the system? I thought the squeal was from the hyd lift lever being maybe to far forward or backwards. I have noticed that if it is the bucket wont respond well. By the way those darn little fellows made it hard as heck to get both my fuel filters off. The bolt head was on the inside on the one in the engine compartment and on top on the one under the tractor. Had to reverse the band on the one below. I have hands like a catchers mit and boy was it a pain to get to. LOL. I will call the dealer tomorrow and ask about the hot connectors for the hyd line to the loader. I have never felt them hot like that before on any of my tractors. Mark

It took about 1 1/2 hours and would have been a lot shorter if I'd gotten a flex funnel with a bigger stem for the UDT. I think I'm gonna find a hand pump the next time.
The filters are a little bit larger than a small canister gm filter, and I had to walk the band wrench on them. I was about to pull the grill when I realized that I had a filter wrench with a 3/8" drive opening. A ratchet, 12" extension, and the engine oil filter came right off.
I wanted to pull the hst strainer but didn't. Couldn't get in to it well (had a rake hanging on the bx) and the book doesn't require pulling it until the 300 hr. point, if I remember correctly.
If you have serviced your own cars, the 50 hr. is pretty simple. Didn't even spill the oil /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif!

I'm not sure if its required to change the UDT out at 50 hrs.,(book's out in the garage and its raining AGAIN), but I went ahead and changed it anyway.
I never had the squeal before, so I'm guessing its a result of the change but I may be mistaken. Just my gut reaction to a new noise. I'll run it a bit and see.
Regarding the loader hose temps; mine get pretty hot too, but my guess that its' normal as I've seen older posts asking the same question, but no major problems associated with it.
Sounds like you had a time with the fuel filters. It seems from what you said that the tractor is too small for you. Tell your CFO that you need a Grande L because this one's too small for you to service. Then stand back:) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif!
Have fun,

I recently did a 50hr checkup on my BX22. I used super UDT for both the tranny and front gearbox. Didn't change the oil filter yet because the replacement filter has a round end so a filter socket won't work on it. I did encounter an issue that may be of interest, involving the transmission screen filter. Screen Filter Issue .

DaveL... thanks for the information. I think I lucked-out, I have two sizes of those oil filter wrheches that take the 3/8 socket. Left over from when I changed my own oil in the cars (15 years ago).

DaveL, My BX22 book also says the screen does not need to be cleaned until the 300 hr. service. I was going to do it anyhow but forgot until I had the new fluid in. So much for my memory.....

I had to modify an old oil filter wrench to fit the filter as my small filter wrench was just a little to small to fit around the filter..
