We installed a new tail piece drain in my wife's master bath sink this afternoon. I was looking for something that was a little bit like grease but a tad less messy but not something that would lock things up like putty. Found some old bio white lithium grease in a tube. The outside of the tube was all sticky. Cleaned it off with some alcohol. Then clipped the tip of it, as it had never been used.

The stuff is no longer white, but brown lithium.

Another case of some bio stuff gone bad? Actually, I used it. Didn't need but 2 or 3 little dabs of it on the various threads of the sink gizmo. Us two old fogies got er done!

Lithium grease does go bad, dries up and cracks, Silicone grease, or Teflon grease is much better..

Any idea why it's labeled bio? I've read up on lithium grease trying to see if it contained lead and couldn't even find that out.
