Here is an aside. I cannot imaging what it must feel like to support a sports team and think that the other teams it plays against are "the bad guys". I have never been a "sports fan", and never "gave loyalty" to a sports team. I cannot imagine what that is like. I have never admired sports figures or entertainers, or "stars". I have never considered them as admirable people.
They are VERY ordinary people at best, and many of their VERY human foibles are on display for all to see. Some of you are probably saying "well what in he77 is wrong with him" or "that explains a lot"! But seriously, I just don't care about sporting events or any of the people involved in it. Nor do I care anything about any star or entertainer. Even though a few of them are decent people, the vast majority of them I wouldn't even associate with.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.![]()
Back in the late 70's and early 80s I worked at the fixed base operator at the South Bend airport as a lineman. Back then, lots of big name acts flew in to give concerts at Notre Dame and our local Morris Civic Auditorium. This was just before HUGE arena shows started taking off, so it was fairly common to get the biggest names in music to do shows in smaller 6-12k seat venues.
I had the opportunity to meet many big name acts in person and socialize with them for a few minutes up to a few hours. I'll have to say that most of the big name music acts were really nice folks. However, some were absolutely not! A couple standouts... the group YES just turned their noses up and got in their rides. Didn't acknowledge the group of people waiting to see them. The best..... Willie Nelson! His bus (OMG famous bus) brought him to the airport to catch a small Learjet, and it was late. So, we all got a tour of the bus, and pictures with Willie. Nice guy!
