Last fall I spent a few days pushing over and uprooting trees on an old, overgrown field. With a plain bucket, however, moving them to a burn pile was 'way to laborious. Last spring I bought both a toothbar and a grapple rake. Even just the toothbar help tremendously in both uprooting and picking up trees, but the grapple rake is far and away my favourite tool for this.
Most evenings when the weather is good, I rush home from work for an hour or so of time working on my woods trails. In that time, using the grapple rake, I manage to push over and remove quite a few trees up to about ten inches or so in diameter (mostly spruces) and make another 20 or 30 meters of trail (getting rid of the trees takes a lot more time than uprooting them).
Sadly, once we go back onto standard time, it will be dark by the time I get off work, so this routine (play-time on my favourite RV!) is drawing to a close.
