I tried to just edit my post; but for some reason it wouldn't allow it. So here we go.

In all fairness to TYM and the entire TYM family, neither of my shafts "diameter" was comprised "at all" (as was Myyaz33's as per his posted picture) - I just felt better by being proactive and adjusting to a possible future failure.

So,TYM - your original shaft with the (4) ball bearings per each end (with the 2 grease fittings) is - apparently - at 455 hours doing well; I had no viable shaft wear, nor notable sloppiness (shaft-slide end to end)...It was the approx 30 hour greasing / chatter that came from grease starved fittings that caused me to further peruse this preventative fix.

I'm extremely happy with my TYM; Please don't let down when I "might" need parts - Which is NOT very often. Greg

Gregster - glad you got the shaft in before the old one went. I know when I changed out mine the hole in the floor was a necessity. I had one thought on reading your post and that was regarding the square hole comment. I would suggest keeping an eye on the corners for cracking, unless you have the corners nicely rounded. Flexing fiberglass likes to crack at sharp 90 degree corners.
I remember spending time between Ramona and Julian a few years ago when my wife did a horse event in the area. I remember seeing realty signs for places on very steep slopes advertised as horse property and thought it looked more like mountain goat territory. Is that the halfway up a mountain area you are in? It was also a bit hotter than I care for since I grew up in Alaska and now live in northwest Washington. It was something like 98 degrees at 8 am! But we both really enjoyed the area - a very different kind of beauty. Anyway, just my thoughts and good luck.

Bkjohns, Hi and thanks for your comment on the hole. I hadn't thought about any cracking when I cut it, but I did drill holes in the two back corners to get my Saber saw blade in. Hopefully that will suffice. In the front (towards the dashboard) my saw wouldn't fit so I drilled a series of holes to the edge and just broke it off straight. I plan to put the piece back in with either a flexible strap or a couple of small hinges so it will continue to be an access door.
Yes, halfway up a mountain to me is in the Ramona area. My land has gentle hills but you are correct about some of the other properties in the area - mountain goats would be very comfortable there! It does get hot some in the summer, but you adapt and get used to it. At least learn to do outside work in the early morning anyhow.
Thanks for the comments per Ramona and ideas about watching for cracks in floorboard. Greg
