Looks like muddstopper answered most all of Jonix's questions while I was away.
All but the chain, we are running Oregon 18HX chain.

We're not going out of our way to replace the saw motor now. Like you say we will wait until we blow out the seals and then we will see which way we want to go. Unless we change our engine setup I imagine that we will trade some chain speed for a bit more torque. I did find a 49hp Isuzu diesel for $1500. That didn't sound too bad...

I just found a Isuzu 4 cylinder diesel for $500

Nice! Most rebuilt engines I see in that HP range are $3000 - $4000 and many have a core charge.
Any particular websites or places you look at for unwanted diesels?

Not sure I mentioned it but as expected those two twin cylinder engines are thirsty.
We probably use 15 to 20 gal per tri-axle load of logs. ~6 full cord

I got one of those Isuszu diesels setting below the garage right now. Complete Pup truck. Truck is a rust bucket, but the motor was good when I parked it there. I believe the motor is rated for 51hp. I Paid $300 for the truck just to get the engine to power my processor. Little project kind of out grew the motor before I got a chance to use it. If anybody close or is willing to make the trip, needs such a motor, I'll take my money back for it.

I wish, at about 700 miles one way we'll probably try to look for one that's closer.

Western NC, right on the Tenn/Ga state line. Probably a 2 day round trip for either of you guys. I have drove over 2000 miles stopping to get gas and food, been trying to forget those days. I aint as young as i used to be.

Well, that's a 9 hour drive one way so it's a bit closer.

If you really want one see if the seller is willing to strap it to a pallet and bring it to fastenall. There store to store shipping is very reasonable.

I have e-mailed the seller about multiple possibilities. Thank you for posting the add.
Greatly appreciated.

Put the first log through the processor this evening. Made no adjustments to any valves as of yet. Still have a rats nest of hoses. Waiting to see how things come off the wedge before we build the splitter outfeed grates.
How'd it run? Not too shabby...

I designed the saw plate /frame and had it machined. I Purchased the bar, hydraulic motor, sprocket, etc.

They can be purchased. I loosely based my design off of Danzco's saws.

Hydraulic Chain Saws

They sell basic to complete saw packages.

Nice build would you have sketch of your saw plate and frame so I could get one machined if its okay with you .Could you tell me when you cut you round what is the drop distance to your I beam thanks Peter

Honestly that is the one piece that I really don't feel comfortable giving out.
A little ways up I said that I loosely based it off of Danzco's design... Well, in all honesty, I pretty much ripped it right off.

I have no idea if they have any patents on their saw design, I didn't look anything up.
I feel OK copying it for my own use since I am not distributing it or profiting from it. But once I make it public, then I kind of feel bad about putting a design replica out there.

If someone has questions about general design ideas I have no problem helping out. Or if someone does the legwork to say that they have no patents or this is all common knowledge / unpatentable then I guess I'm OK with it.

Here is the parts list. As mentioned before I would now go with a hydraulic motor that is one size larger in displacement to get more torque.

Lastly, when cut our log will drop about 27-1/2" to the beam.
