My property is west of Austin, on Lake Travis between Marble Falls and Cedar Park. My house and work are also West, but closer to town near 2222 and 620. Gidding would be long haul. The closet JD dealers are Marble Falls and Georgetown. I have expanded my price range a bit, so will be looking at JD next week. Based on feedback on this site, I am also looking at the NH TC33DA and will try to get to the dealer on Monday. The dealer is in Pflugerville, so not too far away. The TC33DA is almost as expensive at the L3130, but smaller and lighter, which is good and bad. The TC33 is pretty much identical in size and weight to the L3400, but with a little more FEL capacity and bells and whistles. The L3130 is about 800 pounds heavier which would be good for FEL, Brushhog, boxblade (my big priorities for the next few years), but may be too heavy/big to finish mowing a couple acres when the time comes (based on feedback on this site).

I just compaired/testdrove/shopped the same tractors and almost bought the L3400. It will do anything you need to do on the 5 acres, and is the best bang for the buck in my opinion. I also compaired it with a 3320 John Deere. The Deere is just more user frendly, has more usable features, more comfortable to operate, and just feels smoother overall. The 3320 ended up costing $1700 more, after negotiating with the salesman. Check out John Deeres line yourself, and by all means test drive all the tractors you may be considering. Only then will you know whats right for you. Best of luck to you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

grwoolf,

There's a Mahindra dealer in Liberty Hill, which shouldn't be too far from your place. If you take the road toward Oatmeal north from Smithwick (FM1174), there's a shortcut to Liberty Hill (FM1869). I haven't seen the dealership there, but it's affiliated with Bill's Tractors out of San Antonio, which I understand is a big Mahindra dealer.

grwoolf,

I recently purchased an L3400DT and couldn't be happier with the machine for the price. A real powerful workhorse. Tough. Don't but too little hp. With 17ac, this 34.7hp machine is great for me...if I was in a rush...40hp? 45hp?

happy shopping,

Shawn
