We are getting another foot of snow today

Total of around 120" so far this year

Over 3' still in the woods, making it hard to get my sap lines up and trees tapped. I'm going to need a ladder to take it all down in the spring.

-16 deg yesterday morning and 0 this morning only 20 deg for high last 2 days so I guess sap isn't running anyway.

Here is my Snow Removal rigging. John deere 790 with 7' box plow and 5' snow thrower. Works pretty good.

tessiers,

Your report sure sounded like what we got in Central Maine over the last day or so, where are you? Dyer, retired

Skowhegan, Maine

Well, that explains the similarity between Skowhegan and Belgrade, Ha! It looks like you have the solution to snow removal for sure. I'll attach a picture of my rig.

For some reason I hadn't heard this before, but did Skowhegan pick up a Tractor Supply Company store and, if so, where would I find it? John

For some reason I hadn't heard this before said:
Right on Route 201 just north of town, still in town really.

I wish I had a front mount snow thrower, but the one I have was practically given to me.

Tessiers,

Thanks, I will be taking a ride up to 201 very soon then. The front mount blower is great, but your price sounded a lot better for yours and works just as well. I have said before, and will again, no matter which way the wind is blowing, which direction I'm throwing the snow, you name it....the snow will somehow swirl around and land directly in my face. I've gone to hooding up, scarfs, and ski goggles. It feels a little like you're in a cocoon, but it sure takes the sting out of blowing snow. On the lesser snowfalls, I mostly use the rear blade to push the snow into a pile on either end of the property and then use the blower to throw the snow into the woods. Thanks for the info. on TSC. How long has it been since you folks up in Maine have made snow ice cream with a little vanilla, a little sugar, a little milk, and a lot of snow?:D It's sure been a long time since we had enough snow to do that.:)

Bird,

I remember as a kid going out to my Uncle's farm and cranking out homemade ice cream using snow from the field. It was excellent! Now the milk, sugar, and vanilla are trucked everywhere, so the snow is the only cheap part of it all. This has been a bad winter for Maine...not sure if the Farmers Almanac predicted this one or not. A friend from up on the Northern border told me today that if he had to shovel his roof again this year, he'd be shoveling up hill. Take care. John

A story in the Dallas Morning News this morning says this Winter has been the 14th warmest and 16th driest Winter in the 110 years records have been kept for the area. So we're hoping the current forecast for rain tonight and tomorrow is right, but we' be just as happy to not the wind we're getting.

Guys,
Why don't we truck some down to our Texas friends and let them in on the fun. :D :D
Our morning paper states that an average NH winter is 64.6", we're already at 108.9"!
I'm glad I got it all done yesterday, as the wind is really blowing today.
