Do your 14.9's look any different on the 12" rims than the 13"rims? Did you come across any 13" rims when you upgraded your tires/wheels?

I don't notice any difference.
You will NOT find any 13" rims!

I just put new rims and tires on mine. You can see a couple pictures in this thread.
https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/tires/407771-needing-new-r1-tires-my.html

You will not find 13" direct replacement available, I had a few shops quote having them custom made but they were around $600 a rim. Way more than I can justify for a 30 year old tractor. The rims that I purchased were not an exact fit and will require a little modification of your center plate. I had to open up the holes in it .090 outwards to get the bolts to tighten down flat and not be cocked. Not a big deal but something to be aware of. I am almost positive the wheels I bought are the same ones miller tire sells.

The only reason I put new tires on mine was because of neglect on a previous owners part taking large chunks out of the bars on my original ones.

Here is what my rims look like after 30 years of calcium.

I'm running 14.9's on 12" rims on my Ford 3000. I don't see any issue with it. I bought Titan rims when I did the swap. What I took off were 13.6's that were on 12" rims with multiple patches welded in them to fix corrosion.

If you have good tires I wouldn't necessarily replace them. That is a large expense. Mine had one tire that was at about 30% and one at 60%. Of course the one at 60% is the one I managed to cut the sidewall out of so it was all new or nothing. I filled them with a water and RV antifreeze mix.

The tires have a decent amount of tread left, but are over 30 years old. Do tires become more susceptible to damage with age?

I realize I'm probably asking for the impossible, but can anyone assess tire condition from this pic? I also wonder if a 30+ year old tire will get damaged when being removed.

My dad bought a Ford Jubilee about 30 years ago. Old worn tires, but had them put on new rims to replace cal corroded rims. 2 years ago, rims were rotted out again so he had those old tires put on yet another new pair of rims. I’d guess the tires are over 50 years old. Ag tire shop didn’t hesitate to do the job. Your picture looks like new tires compared to my dad’s tires.

2 years ago I replaced the original front tires on my 1951 8N.
Those tires were 65 years old! I thought they needed replacing when I bought the tractor 48 years prior.
I bought new rims 20 years ago, and put new rears on then.

I'm guessing that your tractor has been stored under cover? I don't see any noticeable cracking and the tread looks great on the one in the picture. Those look almost new compared to what I took off mine. Usually what you see with old tires is that the sidewalls start to crack and the treads become soft and tear easily (kind of like punky wood). Even then, many people would continue to run them for years as long as they hold air and have enough tread on them.

If it had not been for damage done by previous owners on my rear tires I would have put them on the new rims on mine and my tractor is 30 years old today. I ended up selling them the first day I put them on craigslist for $250 to a guy looking for a set to go on his kubota.
