Kioti 27HST
I have a Kioti 27HST and really want to put a plow on the front. I have a 72" snow plow from a UTV that mounts in a standard 2" receiver. I was thinking about purchasing a 2" receiver that clamps onto the bucket on the FEL then using it to mount the plow. A lot cheaper than buying a quick attach mount plate and having it welded to the plow, I priced it and it would be a few hundred.

Question for you guys is if you think it will work. I'm sure the clamp on receiver is plenty beefy to handle it, but I am concerned about the stability. If the plow is angled or uneven force is applied to the plow, do you think it will push the clamp on receiver sideways? That is the only thing I could think of that would not work.

The 72" plow, at maximum angle, is still a good foot wider than the tractor. The plow is taller than most UTV plows, so it would work well on the tractor.

Anyone tried it this way. Lots of threads about plows, but none I could find about using a receiver mount.

Thanks.

I guess the way to find out is to put one together with that attachment system, use it, then report back on here...apparently this bucket/blade system is somewhat unpopular. Good luck with it!

Seems like it would be weak to attach in only one place. Lots of stress on the receiver tube clamps. I'd keep thinking

Ya a 2" receiver isn't designed for side loads. They will pull many thousands of pounds, but I'd wager they will twist or buckle on side loads. Especially if clamped to a bucket.

I would drill a couple holes in the bucket and mount it that way(the receiver),other wise it should work.

I once had a clamp on receiver. It wouldn't even take a little side pressure from jockeying a trailer around the driveway, much less the pushing from a plow. SSQA receiver shown in JL's link doesn't look to be a bad deal. I'd go for one of those if my current setup didn't work well.

This is the ticket. I am 100% sure that the plow will work if mounted to a stable receiver. A receiver is plenty strong. That is how it was mounted to the UTV and it worked fine. That titan receiver in the link is not much more expensive that the clamp on, so it is a great option.

If anyone needs a bargain plow, this is the route to go. My plow is a 72" and it is a lot wider than the tractor. If you are on an even tighter budget, a 60" plow at full angle is still a couple inches wider than a CK27 with AG tires. In my area, there are dozens of plows on CL for $250 or less that are 60" wide.

I wouldnt want a light weight ATV plow for that tractor. :2cents:

I don't think anyone wants an ATV or UTV plow for the tractor, but considering it looks like it can be done for well under $500 and the best price I have seen anyone find for a tractor front mount plow is close to $2,000, many of us don't have a choice.

Besides, my UTV had more power in straight HP than my tractor. Not as much weight so not as much stress on the plow, but I seriously doubt a under 30HP tractor is going to hurt the plow. That is what trip springs are for.
