Great project ! You must have a HD welder. Nice workmanship.

Supper John Looks great. I'm planning on making one myself. How much cost do you have into it. And your welds look grate too. I may have to steal your Plan and do the same. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif And Welcome 2 TBN. Keep Posting with lots of pics.

I really appreciate the kind words..

My welder is a single phase (we're lucky to have 240v in Aust.) 240 amp MIG. I bought it for my 60th birthday last November and decided there was no reason not to be generous with myself :). Here's a pic..

Steel cost was $80 (AUD) - that's about $60 US I guess.
2 x 65mm x 10mm x 300mm (the side plates)
1 x 100mm x 10mm x 1200mm (the main plate)
6 x 25mm x 25mm x 420mm for the 6 teeth.

Look forward to seeing pics of those who are also going to make their own..

Looks great from your pictures. You are braver than I to be welding while wearing sandals. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Actually, I have a couple of leather 'duck's feet' that clip around my ankles with velcro when I'm welding..
Always wear my gloves and leather apron too..

I can't wear shoes without my feet boiling - circulation thing..

You have a good eye for the details /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

John,

That's fantastic....really like your setup. Good to have you folks from Down Under on this board! I'm going to copy it for a grapple project I'm working on.

I've got some good friends I met in California while skiing in Lake Tahoe from Australia and NZ. I still stay in touch....Some of the finest people I've ever met.

Superb, hope you don't mind but I plan to pick up the steel tomorrow and copy what you did.

Excellent work and craftsmanship. I like yours much better than the forged teeth commercial companies are using. Plus, you get to use add-ons to make a great log hauler/ brush mover/ whatever. That will be my next project too.
