So I went to the Kubota dealer today to look at a nice barely used BX24 and of course the guy before me ended up buying it.

So now they walk me over to the new BX25. All shiney and pretty. Lets me sit on it and play with the gadgets.

After I was done salivating, they took me in to talk prices.

The machine with the backhoe attached came out in the high 16K and add on some taxes.

The used '06 BX24 sold for 13.5k and now I find myself considering the new one and paying the extra three thousand after they told me it would be 0% financing for 3 or 4 years. What ever I wanted.

Forced myself to walk out with the paperwork in hand to think it over for a week.

On the way home I figured I'd stop at the John Deere dealership. Same sized machine, JD 2305 with 200CX CP loader and 260 backhoe and with the three pt. hitch (that the BX25 didn't have) and extras (some sort of easy quick hitch connection features and ballast kit) added up and total was only $1000 more than the Kubota.

I had anticipated JD being at least 2k more.

So if I want the 3 pt. hitch for the Kubota the difference is really around $700 I am guessing.

With all this being said, would you consider paying the extra for the John Deere?

Or do you think Kubota has a better quality machine?

Does anyone know what differences there might be?

Thanks again for the help you guys bring.

They are both good machines. Did you try out the JD also? I would go with the one that feels the best to you. If you are comfortable with the Kubota save yourself some money. If the JD is more comfortable and will do what you want it would be worth paying the difference. There are other decent models available from other companies if you wanted to expand your options.

Can only speak from the Orange side of the fence...I'm VERY happy with my BX23.

Sounds like it's exactly the same question.

I would strongly recommend you think hard about the 3pt hitch, I would almost guarante you will want it at some point. You will really limit your tractor uses and resale value without it.

I have to agree to try the JD out. For me, the rocker pedal Kubota uses would be more difficult than the two pedals the JD uses, but that is a matter of personal preference. Also, Landpride sells a quick hitch as well, which Kubota will include in their financing deals. If you are going to have multiple rear mounted implements, a quick hitch is one way to simplify hookup; there are others as well. If you do get the quick hitch, either JD or Landpride or others, make sure that any implements you get will work with it. Some implements, like a post hole digger, will not work with it at all, and some brands and models of other implements will not fit without modification. Good luck in your search.

The MASSEY 2410 with 72month 0% financing might be a better option .

*Funny U should say that .
I just came in from from my mowing my back yard and was thinkin while mowing = out of all the Sub Compacts out there I'm sure glad mine is a BX 23.

*I agree but as for the R V he could aleays purchase and install the 3 point prior to offering the tractor 4 Sale.

are both dealers good to work with? I picked my JD over the kubota due to the dealer in the end

You definitely need to get the 3pt thrown into the deal. You will regret it if you don't. As to which color to buy, well you can only make an educated decision by getting on both machines and playing with them. I spent over two months going to the same four dealerships and playing on the Kubotas, John Deeres, New Hollands and Masseys until I felt like I could make a good decision. I thought I had to have a green one but as you can see by my sig the big orange won out soley on DEALER, DEALER, DEALER, perceived capability, comfort oh and did I mention DEALER with price having the LEAST amount of influence. I know I made the right decision for me :p
