I did a little more research and found that there currently is NO METHOD for road side determination of the level of THC in a persons blood.

Nothing to blow into - nothing for rapid blood analysis - no method for physical detection of THC levels.

SO........ detention or incarceration based upon some kind of determination, that a person appears stoned, will most likely be in for a serious legal challenge.

They will maybe come up with some device that measures salivating when shown a picture of a slice of pizza or a bag of Doritos etc...

The problem with breath analysis machines is that they fail to distinguish between a drunk and a well dined gentleman.

Or a conditioned alcoholic who can function quite well with well over the intoxication level. I booked for DWI several who appeared quite normal but the BAC registered higher than legal.

Police use a tongue swab for initial detection of drugs, drag over the tongue two or three times then wait 10-15 minutes for the indicator to show.
If it is positive then a more accurate device is used that uses a larger probe that is swabbed around the tongue and cheeks and gives a result.
I recall a female socialite who was given a breathalyser and returned a reading of .3+, it was stated that she was quite coherent and steady on her feet but stated that she was only a social drinker.
With that reading I would probably be in a coma but then I'm probably not as social as she was.

Yes - in WA state the limit is - 5 nanograms of active THC per milliliter of blood. Now, I have absolutely NO idea what that converts back to in joints smoked.

Time to test it yourself and see what you come up with

That said, back "in the day", the only time I knew anyone to drive stoned was when they needed some food. Drinking was another story...

Someone Who Isn't Me () recently had a chance to purchase legal marijuana at a store in Portland OR. Everything on the shelf was very thoroughly labeled with THC and CBD content by weight, as well as how much was in each container, who it was produced by, which lab had done the testing, which retailer had some it, and how long to would take to take effect after consumption. Also, it was sold in child-resistant containers.

Not saying anyone should drive under the influence of any amount of thc, just wanted to show that at least in some jurisdictions, the labeling is very thorough. More so than alcohol, even.

That's how my Sister In Law's operation is ran. They keep meticulous grow records. Each plant has a serial number.

AFAIK, there are no meaningful (compared to alcohol enforcement) roadside tests implemented here. Once there is such test hardware in place, the legality of violation limits will probably take some time to settle out in the courts. In the near/medium term, I expect nothing comparable to alcohol enforcement on the roads..... fair to say the govt here is much more focused on new-tax revenue, than enforcement.

Last year one of the younger hunters that comes out to hunt deer/elk on my property gave me some MJ to try. So, while we were all sitting around the campfire that evening - I fired up. All it did was burn my throat - I don't smoke. I didn't feel high, nor euphoric, certainly not stoned - just had a dam sore throat.

He said the MJ was the "good stuff". SH+T - I can get a sore throat just by smoking a cigarette. I don't have to smoke that crap and smell like some window cleaning product.

Now you guys remember - this MJ crap is legal in my state here. Woopie, dam do...........
