No.

Geez Dan, and hear I thought that term was only being used for the Wake County School Board.

 Depends on which BOE you are talking about. :D The ones that used to be on the board or the ones now. The Wake County BOE has had a serious change in membership over the last two election cycles. :D

The supporters of the old board call the new board members some really bad names now a days.

I think a large percentage of Wake county is from the NE now a days. Certainly from up Nawth. The county and surrounding area have grown tremendously over the last few decades. Which is good and bad. A lot of rural land has been turned into city and subdivision. :(

I worked for the Wake County Public School System for 3 years, everyone I knew was from the north. I met one person who was from north carolina. I loved all the alternative names for places there. Cary, Concentrated Area of Rich Yankees...hehe still have friends down there. Loved the state, hated the pay.

Wake county has had several billion dollar bonds for education over the last few years. The pay might have gone up for teachers. The battle for the BOE and the direction of the public education has gotten very ugly in Wake county.

We used to live in the Concentrated Area of Rich Yankees. :D:D:D:D:D HATED that place. Can't really say it was because of the Yankees. The place really put on "airs".

Realize that I live 13/15 miles outside of town, we've had 2 dogs murdered by the side of the road (shot by a hunter on Xmas Eve), we've had trespassers, thieves and even the obligatory dead body on the road on the backside of the farm. (he wasn't killed there, just dumped after some gal's exboyfriend discovered she was seeing this guy)

I only saw lights at the time and did not know it was this neighbor. Had I known, I would have thought nothing of it (I've known him for 10 years and though he's a country redneck he's a good one!.... making his comment all the more confusing to me)

When the lights were in the driveway, they backed up to an area that is usually used for parking and then he killed his engine.

It was really, the stopping of the engine and the lights going out on the vehicle that got me thinking something wasn't right.

I looked at the house over the last couple nights and they DO have some outdoor lighthing (low voltage on timer) and in retrospect, I'd now bet lunch that THOSE lights were on even though any household lights were off.

This neighbor could very honestly have simply thought they were home. I have no issue with that.

I've been expecting him to call me, telling me that he had been drinking some that night and was sorry about his attitude. Thus far, no phone call. Interesting.

Richard, One day about a year ago I was sitting in my home office which is in the front of the house with an outside door and porch that goes to the driveway outside the garage. All of a sudden a small car turned into our driveway and drove up very fast in front of the garage, the door of which was open, and there were two occupants both Males...the driver jumped out and as he did I was up from my desk with my semi auto in the small of my back as I opened the door and stepped out and said.." What do you need ?" He stammered as he was surprised and asked for directions to a hwy just 2 miles away...very odd ! I kept my right hand behind my back firmly griping my weapon..he got back in his car and left so fast I was unable to get his license plate number. I sat back down at my desk and considered what had just happened and decided to call the Sheriff..the deputy came right out and said I did exactly the right thing..he said it was a common technique of the a group that had been working our county and when they see a garage door open they go in for a home invasion..!!!!

The Deputy asked me if I had protection and I told him I had my pistol in the waistband of the small of my back and he said ..GOOD MOVE ! You can't be too careful in this day and age. and If I were your neighbor I would appreciate what you did and you should let your neighbor know about the incident..

You're a much better man than I to carry SOB in your own home:thumbsup:

In my own home, I prefer a small 20 gauge in both hands:p

Certainly from up Nawth
Dan, don't get your dialects confused. You're speaking "New Englander":D

Only thing worse than a Yankee trying to speak "southern" is a southerner trying to speak Yankee talk LOL

YEAHH BOY! (that was my North Wilkesboro impersonation)

When I think of Knoxville, I think of the Channon Christian case. You have every right to stand your ground and check things out. And I wouldn't walk out there in the circumstances you described unarmed. I would not display a weapon without cause - but I would have one.

We had a crime ring here where after dark, a gal would set in the drive for a bit, then knock. If home, claim she was lost. Nobody home, then the burglery crew would arrive. County Sheriff finally cought them when they kicked the door on an occupied home.

Now that your deal is over, I'd catch the guy in the daytime and talk about it. If he does not want to reconcile, you were the bigger man and made an attempt.

We keep three high candle power spotlights and weapons handy. Not obsessed or scared. Just prepared.

Funny thing is I do not THINK I have a Southern accent....

But when I moved from KY to FLA they thought I talked funny. :D:laughing::D:laughing:

I have lived all over the South. Not sure if SE FLA is really the South but it is on a map. When I moved to NC there was a local guy I was talking too and I could barely understand a word he said.:D Just a completely different accent.

Course the worse I have ever heard was when I worked for a UK company. Those people are supposed to be speaking English but trying to understand a guy from Scotland was hard. Understanding a guy from Liverpool was impossible. :D:D:D

Back to the subject of the thread that I have taken off course somehow....

I really wonder if the neighbor was paying a visit to Cuz and forgot that they were leaving that day.

Our land sits back like Richard's place. I have chased off several trespassers some of which I knew were armed and shooting at my house, me and the kids in the back yard or at the neighbors. I could not tell exactly where they were aiming. I just delt with them. Some trespassers I suspected were armed with firearms but I could not quite see. Others were armed with chemicals and I think were out to blitz a house with a home invasion, come back for a B&E, and/or rip people off selling junk.

I won't say I have talked to these people rudely. Forcefully, you betcha. :D Did they like it, I doubt it. They ain't been back to ask.

When someone drives up past an open gate, on an obviously private road, past posted signs, they have not earned a friendly talking too when they show up at the front door. Or lately at the back door. If they walk in from the woods right past a posted sign the talking is not friendly. Tis worse if they are shooting at me, the kids, the house or the neighbors.

Dan
