I don't know how accurate this is but if you play around on the Australian Mazda site using retail prices the diesel option costs 9% more than the gas option. If that holds true in the US that would mean the $29k CX-5 Grand touring (gas) would be about $31,600 for the same model in diesel. I picked the top of the line CX-5 simply because it's the most likely to get a diesel. I wouldn't call that price out of line for an awd crossover in the top trim level.
