Kinda' been looking for one of these for a while, this one showed up on CL just before my hernia surgery. With lifting restrictions & waiting on my new trailer, Pictures 2018 033.JPG I didn't pursue it til last week. 250 mile round trip to pick up what was advertised as a 1958 Cub Lo-Boy. Tractors 2018 003.JPG Tractors 2018 004.JPG

I'ts not as good as it looks at a distance, but a very sound little tractor, rattle can refurb! The seller had torched the seat frame & welded on an old Ferguson pan seat, so I cut that off yesterday & repaired the frame, new cushions are on order. One front tire is leaking around the stem, so he glued it, that'll get fixed next! Serial number plate was painted over, :mur: got it scraped enough to read the number; "1961 model", which is fine with me, just glad the plate was still there!

Have taken it for a few spins around the yard. Nice, quiet running little tractor, mostly cosmetic problems, but does drip at the front seal. Tractors 2018 005.JPG

Any suggestions on cleaning paint off the serial number tag without destroying the original printing?

Very nice for a rattle can refurb. Hopefully he didn’t get in the engine and take short cuts in there.

It looks good from a distance, but he painted over dirt, rust & all, plus some fish-eye!

I have removed fairly new paint from ID plates like that with WD-40,and some elbow grease. You just have to know when, to say when, getting close to the original surface.

Nice find. I've run Super A's, 140's, M's, and H's. We never owned a Cub. A family friend told me couple days ago a retiring farmer is selling his 2 Cubs. He and his son farmed 100 acres with it. My friend asked him how in the world he got by with those two little Cub's. He said you never plowed with a mule have you.

Thanks guys, I'm new to IH ownership (did work for an IH dealer for a while in my youth), always had JD up until I bought my Power King 1-1/2 years ago. I just kinda' like small tractors!

Lowell's collection continually evolves. The Cubby is very lucky he found it. It's life has never been as good as it will be now!!!! :)

Took off the "junkyard special" alternator this morning, had to cut some of the welds where the knot-head welded to a bolt that held the original regulator plate.: Tractors 2018 019.JPG

I have a new "mini" alternator on order for it.

Put on the new exhaust pipe & muffler: Tractors 2018 021.JPG

Installed the correct air cleaner: Tractors 2018 020.JPG Tractors 2018 022.JPG

Well, I did it again a few months ago, this time it's an Allis Chalmers model "G": Tractors 2019 012.JPG

It had been a granddad/grandson project & had set in a storage unit for "a couple of years". I bought it not running, brought it home, put in a good battery & fresh gas & it started right up! I've painted the wheels & seat Persian Orange #2 to match the rest of the tractor (it should be Persian Orange #1, but the paint is too good to repaint the whole tractor). Added a step/platform: Tractors 2019 018.JPG & tool box: Tractors 2019 019.JPG

I let it be known at a tractor show earlier this spring that I was looking for a hand lift for it, got a call recently from a man that had one. Picked up the lift about a month ago: Tractors 2019 049.JPG Cleaned and painted it before installation.

A couple weeks ago at another show, I was offered a plow from a fellow collector, picked it up Saturday, painted it yesterday: Tractors 2019 091.JPG Tractors 2019 090.JPG And put it on today: Tractors 2019 092.JPG Tractors 2019 093.JPG

Nice looking little G, they where a nice tractor for the truck gardeners or any body with a big garden.
