63DH8: Check your area to see if there's GSN wireless internet access available.
It's basically a long distance Wi-Fi. It uses the same 2.4 ghz radio spectrum and the Wi-Fi standard. Unlike satellite service, you can get true broadband speed like cable or DSL. The only requirement is your site must have a "line of sight" of the service provider's transmission tower. Once you get a real high speed internet access, then you can use VOIP as your phone service. My neighbor has been using this service for over 2 years now and it works great.
