Another question about the Allis-Chalmers tractor

Yes it will run a 5 foot brush hog, at one time I ran a 6 foot with mine, weeds were thick and above the hood no power problem although keeping the front end down with the 6 footer was an issue, easily solved by adding weight and not lifting it to full height. I run a 5 foot finnish mower and wish I would have gotten a 6 footer, I also use a 7 foot rear blade and a 7 1/2 foot power angle plow for snow removal. Not a fancy machine by todays standards but capable and reliable, and since I got it in 84 it's paid for. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tall stemmy weeds are much much easier to cut than thick grass.

When I first got my property.. there were 7' tall ragweed and dogfennel covering about 9 acers.. solid.. like a forest.

I zipped thru it in 3rd range, 3rd gear on my NH 1920... mowed as fast as I could safely see to steer.

Next months cutting had 3' - 2.5' grass. Mowing was in 2nd range.. 2nd gear on the thicker stuff.. 2nd rage 3rd gear on some of the lighter areas... really worked the tractor... and the NH 1920 series are stout tractors...32 pto hp..etc.
