When I read Farmwithjunks post, I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard! That serves the "gangsta" right! Too bad there wasn't any full beers you could have poured on the seats. And you probably could have poured some in his BOOM box and speakers if he is like the "gangstas" around here with it wide open at 3 a.m.. Great job Farmwithjunk!

I picked up his trash, walked through the woods, and dumped all the bottles in the front seat of his car. Nothing like old beer bottles in 98 degree heat.

Haven't had any trash in my yard since.

Sweet! I'm sure that felt great dumping it in his car. Too bad he didn't have a fish sandwich half eaten along with the bottles.

Can't actually say it felt great, but I haven't had the little punk dumping his garbage in my yard since that day.

Whatever happened to the "chain gangs" that used to pickup trash on the roadsides? I never see them around here anymore. Guess that was a violation of their civil rights

Doesn't seem to be. Our county jail runs those inmate gangs picking up litter. The Jail Commander makes a big point of pointing out how many hours of labor have been done each year. Equates it to labor rates. What he doesn't factor into the equation is the overtime he has to pay for the gaurds.

Once a week I do stop on the edge of my property and pick up the beer cans, beer bottles, and assorted trash.

Now mind you - drinking and driving is illegal. That is what appauls me the most. The people are actually drinking while they drive.

You will probably find that most of the beer cans come from teens who are too young to be drinking legally, so, in an act of pure Darwinianism, they elect to drink in their cars while driving down the road since they might arouse suspicion while parked anywhere semi-lonely. Then they need to dispose of the evidence and act like Farmwithjunk's neighbor's kid.

The state highway department here in Arkansas must go out and pick up all of the stake signs before they mow. Their lot has a huge pile of at least a couple of hundred signs ranging from yard sale signs to metal real estate signs.
As far as the tractors go, the local department has about three brands of tractors, mostly Ford/New Hollands , but they don't have any Kubotas. The state may have Kubotas somewhere but I have never seen any mowing the highway right of ways. The contractors have mostly MFs with a few JDs. I have noticed a few Fendts showing up on interstates.

When my 20 year old son lived with us he was not allowed to smoke in the house, so he would stick his head out the window to smoke & then throw his butts on the lawn. In the spring I picked up several packs worth of butts. Thought about it for a while then threw them under the seats in his truck. A few days later he came to me with a puzzled look - found a bunch of butts under his truck seats???? I said " I know, I put them there. You didn't throw them in the trash so I figured you must still want them, & I put them where they'd be safe." He still smokes but does not throw his butts on my lawn. MikeD74T

I have to do a 'litter check' before I mow my pasture every time, along the fence that borders a road. beople find it necescary to not only throw their beer bottles and cans on the road ROW. but they actually take the time to toss them over my fence.

And police? I've lost alotta respect for them lately. It was like pulling teeth to get one to take a report for damage done to my property from the local kids with ATV's. I can't figure out why parents that live on 1/4 ac lots will buy their kids ATV's.. when the only land to ride on belongs to farms. I called the sheriffs dept, and the officer I was routed to refused to take a report. I had to email the shift leader with a CC to the sheriff himself to get a response .. The response was an apology and then a call back from a very ticked off deputiy that did bare minimum.. took the eport, then close dthe case the same day. I know this because in my county, you can enter your case number into the sheriffs website and it will tell you of progress on your case. The officer literally entered the report ( has a time stamp ).. then the next entry int he report was -closed-.. 1 minute later.

That lost local law enforcment alot of respect from me...

In my opinion, people who litter are very inconsiderate, lacking normal intelligence and LAZY. I see more cigarette packs/butts and broken beer bottles/cans than any other type of trash around here. Of course, I did watch an old man unload a whole pickup load of trash in the City of Chattanooga, TN about 2-3 years ago---a refrigerator, stove and I can't remember the rest. But I did call the police on my cell phone and reported his tag number and description and gave an officer a report and told them I was willing to be a witness in court. Guess what? The policeman actually came back to where I was working after we filled out the report and said he went to the mans residence. He said the man had been drinking and was willing to come back and pick up his trash after his liquor wore off. The policeman said he didn't want to write him a ticket because he was poor and elderly. Needless to say, thats the last time I will ever bother to report trash again in Chattanooga. And the old man NEVER back came and picked up the trash, the taxpayer's(City) did.
And the newspaper always manages to keep throwing out their trash in bags(free newspaper) as well. Makes good confetti when mowing. :D
It would be nice if some people would use the grey matter between their ears once in a while. :)

Serve the court - protect the law. The cops job has nothing to do with helping people. Litter isn't near as bad as when I was a kid but it does piss me off. Had to wear rubber gloves under heavy work gloves for protection from needles when working on sweepers in LA.
