Yes, as a matter of fact, I did shoot the revolver first. I thought the practice round should make the next round better instead of worse. Now of course, I wasn't faced with the same time limits, both in shooting and in reloading, that we have on the police range, so I went and re-qualified on the police range today with the 9 mm Sig and shot a very disappointing 82.8.Minimum passing score is 80.
I am consistently shooting low right with the Sig and while I haven't had any expert try it, of course I'm assuming it's me instead of the gun. An instructor on the range today told me he thinks it's because I'm using the same grip I'd use with a revolver and suggested a change in the way I hold the gun. So I'll be trying that in the future.
The grip could be the problem.
For years I have consistently gotten a higher score on the practice round than on the qualifying round.
