Another Snake ID.

That thick, heavy body and the coloration sure looks like a cottonmouth. But, the close-up of the head gives away it's disguise. It's a non-poisonous watersnake.

I think the one you have is a diamondback watersnake. Can't be certain with out closer inspection.

BamaRob is correct, this one just doesn't have the complete markings of a Diamondback water snake I'm pretty sure he/she is going to be shedding soon.
Most folks mistake this one as a Cottonmouth and will kill it on the spot thinking they just killed a posionus snake.

I would have just left him/she alone since he/she was in a great mouse catching spot but my Jack Russle found him/her and would have pestered him/her to tears.
