I'd appreciate your opinions on this. I'm looking for a tiller for my L3830, yesterday I tried out a used woods GT60 in good condition and was really impressed in how it handled the clay soil (rocks) in my two gardens. I see that tractor supply sells a King Kutter 60" tiller for about the same price as the used woods. Are there that many differences between them? My past tillings have been done with a walk behind troy built and after yesterday I only want to use that for weeding the rows. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a KK 48 for my BX, it does a number on my clay and rocks. If I want a very smooth finish, I go first pass slow and shallow, second slow and deeper, and if I need or want deeper, 3rd pass. I have tilled up to 8" deep and had clay soil so soft you would sink to about 6" just walking on it.

I just purchased a 72" KK tiller from Tractor Supply for my L 4330 after looking at many other brands Bushhog, Woods, Landpride and many others. I decided on the KK for the price you get 6 tines per rotor, gear drive and a slip clutch the only thing really missing is parking stand and the paint job is not very good. It did a great job my gardens for about 1/2 what the others cost with the same features. Since I really on need it about 3 or 4 times a year and I have a chisel plow and disk for my other tractor, I can get my garden ready fast and easy. 1 pass chisel plow 1 pass disk 1 pass tiller DONE. For the money a KK tiller works for me and I have added a parking stand and will paint it Orange. I hope this helps.

Can we please see a photo of that parking stand? Mine is now sitting on its front side, rolled over as I pulled away last time, and a parking stand would be great.

thanks

I bought a trailer type jack stand when I bought the tiller. I then welded the stand to the side of the tiller. I drilled and bolted a treated 2x4 about 2ft long to the foot of the stand so the tiller would not tilt in either directions. It sure makes it easier and safer to hitch up to the tractor. Once I am hooked up I just pull the pin out and remove the jack. I have attached a photo of the stand, and I will take a photo of the tiller next time I go out to the farm,

In my opinion, it's better to get the Woods brand as you'll be able to buy parts for it 30 years from now if need be. I'm not so sure that will be true for the KK.
Woods has been in the implement business for many many years and still make parts for everything they've built. Woods Care, worth the extra to me.
I have a Woods GTC52 and LOVE it. Looks good too. Of course, no tiller is going to stay looking good for long.
