just discovered a product better than WD-40 it's called (pb catylist) it spray's just like WD-40 only faster on rusted bolt's, from now on wd-40 is going back on the shelf, after using this stuff

I use PB blaster all the time. CRC brand lubricant also works much better than WD.

That stuff is awesome. My co-worker calls it Master Blaster instead of PB Blaster!

I use PB blaster all the time. CRC brand lubricant also works much better than WD.

I use WD-40 for cleaning stuff, no need to keep it on the shelf! For real aggressive action I use all that have been mentioned. Marvel Mystery Oil is a great penetrate/lubricant as well.

Kroil was the rust breaker of choice in our house/garage in the rust belt. Not so much an issue living in Georgia away from the coast.

Blaster is good but I think the best I ever used is Howe's Lubricator. They make all sorts of petro products but the only one I have used is the Lubricator. Comes in half gallon and gallon jugs, you just put it in a spray bottle.

Kroil is about my favorite but it's pricey, I keep the squeeze can and aerosol spray both on hand. Another good one I've used for years is Thrust, made by Castle. If you have something really bad that is going to take days or weeks to soak, Thrust is good because of it's viscosity and foaming action - it stays put longer than any other penetrant I've ever used and in my 40 years as a mechanic I've used many,many penetrants. Break Free CLP is similar to Thrust and almost as good but smells worse, in my opinion. Alot of people, including the US military use it for cleaning/lubing guns. WD40 is good for cleaning stuff, about worthless for breaking badly rusted parts loose or lubrication - it evaporates way too fast and leaves no lubricating film for long.

I think WD 40 will actually promote rust on guns if used as a protectant. It seems to remove all the oils and then evaporates leaving no protection. I use is as a cleaner and solvent only, then re-oil with a good gun oil. As for rust breaker, PB Blaster is available at my local Walmart. I do like the new foldaway spray nozzle on the WD 40, I wish the rest of the folks would use that.

Gary -Ditto on the folding 'spray-straw'! I hope some poor ole mechanic got a big bonus on that idea! I'd lose the old straws after the first use.

Pb Blaster, Kroil and Rust buster all seem to work pretty good. I never use WD-40 on my guns, it has not ever worked well. It will start and run a diesel engine with lubrication, after a filter change. Kroil oil too, but not as well....

I like the red Marvel oil too. Poured it into fuel for years.Now pump spray it..

WD-40 is crap. Break-Free products much better, PB Blaster also very good.
