Anti spin rear axle?

Limited slip will spin the opposite wheel backwards when jacked up...Not full posi, but that's no major thing with a pickup assuming it's 4x4..

At least that's the way it worked in my muscle car days.

In the mucsle car days, both wheels would spin the same ways if jacked up and spun. You would also have to put the car in nuetral to make them spin. I've junk yarded many a Mopar 8 3/4 rear end and that was how we new if they were limited slip or not. This is what confused me about my truck, they spun the OPPISITE way when the truck was jacked up in back, but thats normal for this type of anti spin.

On my 12 bolt Chevy, it spins opposite when jacked up..It's limited-slip and not full posi..

Virtually any OEM differential, whether it be open, limited slip, gov-lock, or a selectable locker(in open mode) will spin one tire opposite when jacked up. The only ones that won't are something like a Detroit locker, lunch-box locker or a spool.

Racing posi units is what I was referring to...Lockers would be posi..Spools are undriveable on the street.

OEM is generally limited slip unless a full posi unit is added. Full posi puts down a nice hole shot. Limited slip--not so much.

I've had a 70 Challenger, 70 Road Runner, 98 Dodge Ram, 2007 Dodge Ram all with a factory limited slip. Every one of these would spin the rear tires in the SAME direction if the back was jacked up in the air and you would spin one tire by hand.

My 03 chevy had the gov lock. They would spin opposites when jacked up.

BUT, start the truck and put it in gear and just let it idle (tires going ~20MPH), and I could take my hands (with gloves) and slow one tire down. This would make the other speed up a bit. And then the tire I was holding would start to grab and go in the same direction as the other one.

Not sure how effective that dodge LS is going to be, but you could try what I just mentioned and see how much it tries to drive?

I kinda liked the gov-lock that was in my chevy. I plowed a lot of snow with that truck. And any time I started to spin, shortly there after I could feel the other rear engage and I would start moving again. The gov-locs got a bad wrap because when people get stuck, they tend to just put the pedal to the floor. This makes the g-loc engage at a much higher wheel speed differential and they dont like that.

The Gov Loc (G80) you speak of in a GM truck is a mechanical locker. It engages with a little wheel spin. The down side to it is the fly weights dis engage and it opens back up at about 20 mph wheel spin.

Ford, Toyota, Nissan, ect use true electric lockers like the Detroit locker that can be locked up and does not unlock until the driver turns it off.

I have a spool in the back of my '79 F-150 (rock crawler) and drive it on the street all the time. Often drive it to wherever we're wheeling which is sometimes 300mi round trip. Handle great, very predictable, and it works fine in the snow and ice as far as I'm concerned.

As for the gov lock, they work great in stock applications if you know how to use them. Just let the tire spin slowly until it engages then keep even throttle on it till you make it through. However, even when the 'lock' they are not truly locked up like a locker. As mentioned where people get in trouble with them is when the get one back wheel spinning and then floor it. When it finally does lock it tends to send the fly weights through the diff cover.
