Antifreeze "bad" for engine bearings?

I don't "know". Nope.

My guess is that it looks like a heat exchanger as it is connected to the coolant. But, it looks like it is connected to a fuel line from the fuel filter. If that is a diesel, could it be a fuel heater to keep it going when running is the winter. ???

The filter the small tube is connected to says it's a coolant conditioner (as I recall)

Implication being it's being fed on the right side by two 1" ports. Perhaps one input another output.

On the left side, is the small tube going to the coolant conditioner filter and then goes on up to the last shutoff valve on the top right.

I've no idea if coolant flows from top to bottom or bottom to top here.

I also suspected that perhaps on the left side of the "muffler" where the bolts connect it to the engine block, there MIGHT be an opening there, much like an exhaust port, that could connect this to an oil passage in the engine.

Merely speculation on my part. Only brought up because of the guy my brother in law was talking to who suggested this machine might have an oil cooler.

If it DOES have an oil cooler than this looks to be the primary suspect for it.

If memory serves me, in the nose of the machine are two radiators. One for water and the other for hydraulic fluid. There's not a third one up there for engine oil.

Never seen that before either!! But it looks like you can certainly shut the valves off and cut the flow...which should be from the top down, the suction is on the bottom.

A very small amount of water in the oil will not be a problem. When the motor oil heats up it will dissipate out the crank vent as vapor. If you are getting a quart or 2 after a short run then tat would be a problem.

I don't see what pulling the pan will do. Sure you might see a leak but you already know that. Pulling the head calls for a new gasket and if its an oring you can change those while you are there to.

I'd probably just leave it, put in some antifreeze and watch the water level.

Good Luck,

Right now, that looks to be exactly what we're going to be doing. Since this isn't 'my' tractor, I'm not going to fix too much of this stuff.

I cut another field last night and don't see ANY noticable drop in the water level in radiator.

I'm actually beginning to hope (think) I can get the entire farm cut again and not have any issues. (guessing about 125 acres of fields?)

I like to cut the place at the end of the year so over the wintertime, it looks nicer with the 'manicured' fields, rather than the scraggly look of 3' tall weeds.....

Although I'll blame it on the wife, I gotta admit I like it looking nicer too.

Here is one specific field that I WANT to keep cut. By doing so, it just seems to make the entire place look better (this is in front of my house which you can see on the right) You can see in the distance how it starts to look rough compared to the area I keep mowed (weekly)

If you mean of the entire tractor....I'll have to take it over the weekend. I've got a plethora of pictures of my dogs, but only a couple of our tractors....

I've seen ford propane tractors that had a coolant heated fuel pre-heater...

my 951 was originally propane and has this option.
