Antifreeze Disposal

   / Antifreeze Disposal #21
I recently went to our local waste transfer station to dispose of my used oil,,

They had a ~500 gallon tank labeled "used oil" that I had to dump the oil into,,
there was a large container for the empty jugs and buckets,,

RIGHT next to the used oil tank, was an identical tank,, labeled "used antifreeze",,,
so,, our county accepts antifreeze,, no charge, any quantity,,,

Here they would have slapped you with 26, insecure load fines, just for being a good citizen! And then probably detained you, while the Ministry of the Environment and Transportation could be summoned to the scene! lol

One Word, Tonneu Cover!

Our county has hazardous waste disposal days, but we can always take such to the dump where they have containers for such.

With a load, like in that truck, I think you would get pushback as far as that being personal or household quantities. I'm sure, a business can't store up waste liquid and take it in on those days. I take my oil to my Mechanic who has a used oil fired furnace.

Farmers might want it for their sprayer for winter storage. What happens in spring is a surprise.

Ethylene glycol - Wikipedia

It breaks down rapidly in the environment, within ten days. In my view, if I had a couple of gallons to deal with, I'd pour it on dry dirt and make sure it all absorbed so no dog or cat would drink it.
