"You realize he is attached to the gov't teat, right?...."

Assumed so. Sounds like a government employee. Didn't know for sure until now. Red scum leaves a stain. It just happens and it's pretty easy to track back to the source.

Maybe we are trying to fix the wrong problem? High medical costs equal high insurance costs. Crooks on wall street stealing pension plan money equal more pension contributions . I'll bet when the pension and health insurance contracts were awarded to the public employees that they were a small percentage of what they are now. I'm ready to take names and kick arse on anyone that takes to big a piece of the pie, but I'm not convinced it is the public workers. (been married to a school teacher for 45 yrs.) After all, somebody had to agree to the the terms of those union contracts. The public employees typically can't legally strike so the threat of a strike should not have been a factor. Maybe we should also check to see if the governor, senators, and representives could cut a bit too. Maybe not salary but do a little more work and cut some staff. For sure they should pay for their own pension and health insurance. Nothing wrong with being low pay or poor if some rich SOB isn't rubbing your nose in it. I guess this was a tractor parade thread, but it had gone south when I got in.

Gone south is an understatement. Of course I suppose I would be one of those "red scum" government employees too. A 20 year Air Force career must be sucking off the government teat too...and considering I chose to teach public school after I put in my first government 20, I must be "super red scum."

I chose my careers because i wanted to do one thing - serve. Of course I do think that the governor of WI has overstepped his bounds...but what would i know, I'm just "red scum."

And gregfender, I think there are the majority of our teachers who like teaching and will do a great job of teaching regardless of the Union. I don't see it any different. And seems even better, that the poor teachers will not be getting equal raises just based on time in service and not quality teaching.

Also, I have yet to understand what the protesting farmers that showed up have in this fight. They kind of came out of the blue, and I don't think the protesters represent any where near the silent majority that supports what is happening in WI.

And I don't consider any Gov't employee scum, nor would I assume anyone ('cept maybe Union employees taking the dues monies) is "scum". All human beings figuring they are doing what is best for them and their families.

Public sector unions certainly are in a different political position than private unions, particularly when it comes to negotiating. I think public sector union negotiations should be done in open meeting style with the opportunity for public analysis and public feed back, and the resulting contracts should be posted plainly for all to see. The ability of the tax-payers to make good election decisions requires they are well informed of the cost of what they are buying. This would help curtail any excesses, as well as expose the exaggerations.

That having been said, the idea that the workers, union or otherwise, are somehow responsible for the fiscal mismanagement of the state government is ludicrous. There has never been a company, state or nation, go belly up broke because of the workers. Never. So if you're going to address a budget problem by dope slapping personnel, where should you start? Union busting and the like to fix these budget and deficit problems is like taking nitro and thinking you're curing heart disease. Feels good for a little while, but you're still sick...

Hey Duff, I vote 100% republican ticket and yes I'm in a union.

But of course you know everything. One day when I grow up I wanna be just like you...NOT!

Signing off. Going to bed. Yes I still have to work......

Having a tough time denying my statement?

Nobody is union busting.

Can we leave politics out of the owning/operating forum?

Right. I'm not a big fan of unions, but I can spot a spade when I see it, and call it that. The benefit contribution concessions were supposedly what Walker was after, but turns out that wasn't enough. This is union busting.

That leaves the thread open only to those who own and operate politicians...

Just kidding, point taken - I'll shut up now! :D
