Yanmar has made up their mind and they are here to Stay !! Yanmar has been making Huge advances over the last few years. They still build alot of the John Deere Tractors and supply engines and transmissions for most of the other john deere models. BUT, I believe they are slowly divorcing John Deere and will be 100% building under the Yanmar name in the future. Our Yanmar Sales have been going up and up every year. We are Very Happy with the direction Yanmar is going !!

Great. Let's see how it works out in 5-10 years. I hope your cheerleading is justified.

Yanmar is here to stay !! A Bunch of NEW Yanmar Tractors are Planned for 2016

Anyone with much tractor experience will agree that Yanmar = Quality, but what 2014/2015 models can be bought through Yanmar USA currently? I know when they were with Cub, they had roughly 24-49 ish HP models. Seems they had the sub-compact, then the roughly 30 HP model, then a 45 or so HP model. Right now all I see are the sub-compacts.

Enlighten us a little please, thanks.

I took a quick look at both a new Yanmar 424 and a Mahindra Max 28.

No comparison, the Mahindra was a much greater value TO ME.

I'm surprised how expensive the Yanmar 424 is.

1912. . .Yanmar is over 100 years old and was founded by Magokichi Yamaoka and is headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
1933. . .Yanmar designed and built the world's first small horizontal water-cooled diesel engine.
1961. . .Yanmar began building compact agricultural tractors.
1974. . .Yanmar started selling tractors in the US.
1977. . .Yanmar began building compact tractors for John Deere.
1986. . .Yanmar had built and shipped over 100,000 tractors to John Deere.
1991. . .Yanmar's partnership with John Deere prompted the company to stop selling tractors branded "YANMAR" in the US.
2006. . .Yanmar re-entered the US market with "CUB/YANMAR" branded tractors. Yanmar built the tractors and Cub Cadet did the US distribution. Since they were distributed through Cub they were Cub colors (yellow & black)
2011. . .Yanmar split from Cub and branded the tractors "YANMAR"
2014. . .Yanmar introduced new models under 25HP and went with Yanmar's world wide color (red)
2016. . . Yanmar will introduce new Tier IV models 30-60HP and they will be Yanmar red

Yanmar Quality to a Mahindra ? Longevity of the Yanmar is Huge !

Who even makes the Mahindra ? I think it has a Mitsubishi engine, someone else's Transmission, Someone else's Loader , etc ? Yanmar builds their own tractor - Yanmar Engine, Yanmar Transmission and a Yanmar Loader.

Home - Yanmar Tractor

With the Current Rebates - You should be able to buy a Yanmar 424 W/Front end loader for Under $15,000 with Block Heater and Loaded Tires.

I like Yanmar, they build a good product, even though they have zero Tier IV >26HP product available currently. And if you want larger than 26HP, you get left over Cub Cadet yellow models that were manufactured when exactly? 2012?

I figured you would know more about Mahindra, but since you are wondering about who builds what....Mahindra sells more tractors worldwide than any brand, I think that is when you count 20-85HP. Mahindra does not have much of a presence in HP over 85. Of the 200k plus units they sell per year, the vast majority of them are built by Mahindra at Mahindra facilities. They even cast their own engine blocks, etc.

The USA is an odd market compared to the rest of the world. We are an affluent society where non-farmers buy a tractor because it is handy. Mahindra has never built their own small tractor, so they do use Mitsubishi and TYM to build much of the smaller product that is sold in the USA, but they still supply the USA with a bunch of Mahindra made product.

Yanmar was the supplier for small tractors for John Deere for years, so you are familiar with the way the tractor world works. Iseki supplies Massey and did supply some of Cats small tractors. Shibaura and LS supply for NH. This is a reality in today's market.

Is it cool that Yanmar builds about everything in house? Yes, I think so. I prefer that, however it can also create issues. Try finding a 35-45-50 or whatever size current Yanmar in the USA right now that is Tier IV and you will get goose eggs. It will be 2016 before we see much in the way of >26HP Yanmar product. That's a problem for a dealer I think.

We can agree that Yanmar is a premium brand and great quality. I like Yanmar. I have a Takeuchi excavator and a Takeuchi track loader and some Doosan forklifts and they all use Yanmar diesels. They run great.

As far as the post you were responding too with the Max28 to the Yanmar 424, that Mitsu built Max28 is an awesome machine...even by Yanmar standards.

I'm sure this could go back and forth

The Yellow and Black Yanmars are still being made in 2015 !! They are NOT Left Overs. They are current models being made today. Over the Next couple of years as New Models come out they will be going All Red. They may take 2 or 3 years before they are All red. As they replace models with new designs they will change over to red color. The Current Yellow and Black tractors will continue to stay yellow and black until a new model replaces them.
The Current Yanmar engines under 26hp are All Tier 4 engines BUT Yanmar chose to use Emission credits for over 26hp for the 2015 models. Most customer would prefer a NON Teir 4 engine.

We Sell Yanmar and Kubota Tractors because All of their Tractors are made by them. The Tractor, Engine, Front End, Trans, Loader, etc - All made by these manufactures.

Thanks for the clarification. Goofy in my opinion if they continue to make yellow and black on current models. BTW, all manufacturers maxed out the Tier III and flex units to bring in as many Tier III's legally as possible. It's a good strategy. But for the most part those are sold and gone. Unless Yanmar has pretty poor sales, they would surely run out of Tier III units before 2016.

We distribute tractors for Mahindra on the west coast and generally carry 300-400 as optimal stock amount, but last year due to the Tier III vs Tier IV deal, we had nearly 1000 units for a while. We burned through those pretty fast and there is little remaining of the Tier III. Buy them when you can, for sure.

Thanks for the friendly comments, you sell good brands...not knocking that at all. Just give Mahindra credit where it is due.
