Mahindra 5500
I just bought a 5500, will be delivered in the morning. I've been around this forum for a long time but could never log on, real glad that I can now. I've searched back through the archives and it appears I've bought a good tractor. Any reccomendations on what to watch for or any troubles you've had?

Congratulations Kenneth. I have the 6500 and I've just been following the manual on keeping it lubricated. I check various bolts for tightness all along and make sure no pins are missing, but so far with what few hours I've got on mine, all has been well... no loose bolts and no missing pins. Just make sure you keep it all greased up good and service it properly.

Ken, Run a new battery ground cable to the mount bolt for your starter. The original ground cable has many times not made a good connection where it attaches to the frame by the battery. If you put the new ground cable on, you may save yourself problems down the road. Good Luck and have fun with your 5500.

LAWALLSTRACTOR,

I don't want to hijack this thread, but have you seen this problem in the 15 series? Just wondering if I need to be concerned with this.

Thanks,

BR

i bought a 4500 2wd in march with a 260 loader also. i did find a few very loose bolts on the loader subframe. check those. lube pto shift lever where it scrapes the side of the housing, lube differential lock where little thingie pushes into housing. these are super great tractors.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will look into the ground cable. I have about 7 hours on it now as I play Mr. Mom and don't get to play near enough.

Rob, The ground cable has only been an issue on the 00 series tractors. The 15 series have not had this problem, so I believe you are safe. Happy tractoring.
