9mm ammo cannot be found in my area for some time. Tried every where for the past three weeks. Wal-mart, Dicks sporting goods, Gander mountain, Caballas and several gun stores. They all just laugh at me. I called one place today and they just got a shipment in. They had a 5 box limit so I asked them to hold me 5 boxes till I got off work. They said they would take them to the cashier and put my name on them. When I went in to get them, I went back to the ammo dept and asked it they still had any 9mm. He said yes, and handed me 5 boxes and my wife was with me and he said I supposed you want 5 boxes too, before she coul;d say no, I said sure she want some too, then when I went to the counter to check out, I paid for them and said by the way my son called in and gave his name and you are supposed to have 5 boxes with his name on it. She said sure, right here. $15 a box. Still no 22's any where. What are 9mm going for in your area? Seems like last time I bought some they were less than $10 a box. I heard some places they are going for $30 a box. I think I should have cashed my IRA a few years ago and bought a truck load of ammo. I 've seen 22's going for $80 a brick and people glad to get them. Today the price of gold just went down and ammo went up.

I was in the local hardware store 3 weeks ago and there was three 50 rd. boxes of 9mm parabellum for $14.99 ea (the ammo crunch was already under way so I was surprised to see them...but....I was in a hurry at the time and one week later they were gone and there was a waiting list...I'm still kicking myself for not buying them then...but just last week a recently widowed extended family relative was letting the cache of .223 her late husband had acquired go for .30 rd...and no I'm not interested in flipping part of my windfall...but it's all I need to think about to quit kicking myself for not grabbing up the 9mm...

There isn't any ammo available because people are buying 15 boxes when they are only supposed to buy 5... Lol

I'm waiting till the scare is over... Then I'll buy it on the cheap.

you can find it. Academy sports seems to have the best supply stream of the places I go, which is only WM and gun stores and academy. I see it semi regularly but been a few weeks, but since I reload I only look at the prices every so often. Academy has only gone up a few dollars from their old prices. But I have seen 50ct boxes anywhere from say $14.99 to $30ish??

CI could of bought like 15 boxes of it for $25 box at the gun store I went to about a month n a half ago but again I reload it and I did not want it at that price! but listening to some of you folks I could of flipped it and maybe made $5/box.

I would take that 223 for .30 a round, that's a good price today but that is prolly what the guy paid for it when he bought it just a few years ago.

I haven't seen any 9mm on the shelves here since late December. I do remember going to WM just before Thanksgiving to pick something up for the wife and they had a ton of it just sitting there then. Other than occasionally picking up a box of aluminum cased CCI every now and then (because then I don't have to worry about looking for the brass), I haven't bought 9mm for years since I reload.
Times like this, it feels pretty good to be able to look at the 9mm shelf in the ammo cabinet and see that it's full, then look down at the 5 gallon bucket about half full of brass ready to be loaded. I'm sure that by the end of the summer, things will be back to normal, somewhat, but I'd hate to be coming up on the prime shooting months of summer and not be able to find ammo.

Just sold my 9mm PT92 to one of my neighbors. Gave him 300+ rounds of re-loads to go with it. Noticed that the original boxes that I put the reloads in were marked $9.95 which would have dated the boxes to a couple years ago. Saw several boxes in the local gun shop here last week for $14.50 each. No .22's there at all.

9mm (and .22lr) is scare in my part of western PA as well. I used to buy (November 2012) 100 rounds of 9mm for about $22, now I see that the 50 round boxes are $24 when they are available. I hope it settles down soon.

Exactly. You couldn't find 15 boxes of 9MM in all of southwest MO, and Northern AR. All you can find is shot shells, and weird calibers.

All the stores I've visited lately have been out of 9 mm ammo. I was at Bass Pro this morning when they opened, but not to buy ammo. I was visiting with the "greeter" or whatever they call their employees at the doors and he mentioned that the truck brought guns and ammo this morning. I was at the least used of their 3 doors, but when I went back to the gun counter, they had more customers than employees so the customers were taking a number and waiting for their number to be called. So I don't know how much they had of what, but after I finished my other business I was back by there and saw one of their stocking carts with some .38 spl. ammo at least; didn't see any 9 mm.
