Wow, I really like that! Very nice. I was envisioning nearly an identical setup; especially the covered portion. The only difference in my imagined design is a metal roof with a single slope. This is hurricane country; a canvas roof might last a year if you're lucky.I know because after one season of climbing up and over a ladder my wife made an “executive decision “ that “we” needed a deck.

Are your upright poles set into the ground or sitting on blocks? I'm thinking I'll auger holes and set my poles in the ground with cement. Just a bit of insurance against blowing away.
But you should be no stranger to wind, right? Don't you guys get tornadoes? I lived in The Colony for a few years as a kid and I remember the monthly tests of the tornado alarms. It sent me running home each time, even though I knew it was a drill. I had/have a phobia of tornadoes.
