Well I just dropped off 4 rims to get Michelin XPS Rib tires put on for my dump trailer. I'll lose a ton of capacity thoeretically but I've had it with the Chinese Trailer tires.

We use Continental as OEM under our trailers.
Lots of equipment trailers are used with 5.5 ton axles with dual rims from light commercial vans. On trailers behind a Sprinter (which cant take the full 11 ton axle rating anyways) we use 195/65 R16 Vanco 8 tires. These are suited for about 3150 kg load rating, at a max speed of 170 km/h !!!
the technical documentation of conti says, that when used for trailers at speeds less than 100 km/h, you may load these tires up to 3500 kg per axle.

I think the set of Michelins you just bought, have a load rating written on the sidewall, at 170 or 190 km/h.
when you use them under a trailer at max. 100 km/h they usually are able to bear up to 15% more. ;)

Avoid Pac Star. My 10K equipment trailer came with 5 of them, and the best has at least 1/2" of runout.
