People don't read the fine print and the companies have lots of fine print that let them jump their rates and fees if a payment is late.

What most people don't understand is. They mean missing, late, etc, on. any payment to anyone that you owe. Not just to them. Or,if they see something in your credit history that they don't like.Or, for anyother reason they see fit to raise your intrest rate. All one has to do is READ the fine print. My sister has a card. I've tried to tell her the games card companies tend to play.. She sent in a payment b-4 time & still incured extra late fees. When she called the co. they told her that the mail arrived late making her payment late

I think Dave Ramsey has good advice with regard to getting personal spending under control, wise use of credit, etc, but I don't agree with his investing philosophy.

As in market timing. I believe in setting up an asset allocation (stocks - large cap/small cap, foreign and bonds), steadily adding to it and and sticking with it.

This process makes for pretty boring financial advice especially if you have to fill up a show everyday or a magazine every month. IMO that's why they encourage people to jump into and out of investments constantly.

Do you you listen to a differnet Dave Ramsey then I do?

I have never heard him say to get in and out of an investment.

He suggests investing in mutual funds. Other than that I can't say what he says.

You may be right. I was thinking that he was advising people to dump stock investments as we headed in to this recession. Musta been another talking head.

Dave is really big on mutual funds for the long haul. There was one "advisor"(probably a lot more than one) screaming "SELL" to everybody that would listen not long ago. Trying to time the market is a good way to end up buying high and selling cheap. IMO
