A northwest vineyard tiller would also work and fit on a gooseneck trailer with your tractor

Leonz,
One of my friends has a good levee plow that we use on occasion, I will give that some thought. There are several other implements I would consider using with a larger tractor such as a ripper or chisel plow. Will research the sites you listed, some of them I have already considered. Thanks for the help and information.

Sawyer Rpb,
That is a nice tractor tiller setup you pictured, I do quite bit of tilling for hire myself. My main focus is the laser leveling of fields and for most jobs I need to plant the fields when finished with a cover crop. Various types of grass need to be planted to satisfy the customers wants and needs.

not trying to spend your money;

Just a thought, perhaps with the vineyard unit you could have a hitch installed on it
to pull a drill behind the tiller and rear roller.

I know their strawberry bedders are smaller in width but I am sure
the bedder attachment portion could be eliminated.

You might want to check their used inventory to as they go through
them before they put them up for sale at their shop.

Any idea what the vineyard tillers cost? They sure look expensive.

I've made more money tilling food plots and gardens with this tiller than the other two I own, combined!

It really does a GREAT job!

Thinking about a larger tractor and tiller for my laser leveling projects. Has anyone here used the larger tillers and has an idea of ground speeds in use? I am considering something along the lines of a Frontier 2308 or larger with 101" to 121" working width.

Was coon hunting one night and saw a big tiller, about 8 or 9 ft wide with a fairly large diesel engine setting on top and belts running down to the input shaft. Its an idea.

Good morning Jenkinsph,

About the vineyard tiller cost; I would have to tell you to call the company and
ask them how much they are.

But in saying that I would also ask about the current used inventory they have in
stock as they would also be a good bet.

One pass soil preparation to 14 inch depth an the possibility of having a grass drill with press wheels
towed behind it like the Brillion sure stand seeders would certainly push me to invest as the cost
savings in fitting ground with one unit towing a drill would make me drool.

Leon,
I will check on the prices but I bet their way over my budget, thinking 25 to 40k new.

I agree for certain conditions making one pass to do it all is fine. In my case I need to till it up then laser level the field before planting occurs. Some fields I have to cut down up to 3' to bring to grade in small areas and others parts may be very close to grade. The tiller is used to loosen up material making it easier to move for the grade changes. Most of the fields don't require large amounts of dirt moved, more like 250 to 500 yds/acre so far.

Right now I am considering a used Case IH 2294 4x4 cab tractor and a larger pull type drag box. I am trying to size a tiller to go with this tractor that would be easier to transport than a disc. I am trying to keep the weight of the tractor and any one implement down to 15 to 16,ooo lbs as that is is the max I can handle.

I want to buy a drill too, but that isn't in my budget yet. One step at a time.

I will also be open to used tillers as you suggested.

That would not be an uncommon sight around here. The Amish put them together with Deutz diesels powering them.

As a side note, some Amish here wanted to buy a new tiller, so they went to my friend who sells Maschio tillers for a price. They decided the Maschio's were too much money and had a company order them two "heavy duty" tillers from china. They were cheaper, looked well built and they put Deutz diesels on them and put them to work...

It wasn't too long before those HD china tillers started breaking, and they were replacing one thing after another on them! AND soon they were getting behind in there tillage! That's where I came into this story, and saved the day by getting hired to till many acres of their ground!

How much money do you think they "saved" by buying those cheaper tillers???
