</font><font color="blue" class="small">( JD stuff is currently made by Efco (not Echo), an Italian firm. I've heard from die hard Stihl loving professional arborists and loggers that the JD/Efco is a respectable saw.

I hope so - I just got one! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Which model did you buy? I am looking at either the CS56 or the CS62. Both have awesome specs in comparison with Stihl and Husky. (Lifetime warranty on igntion, magnesium crankcase/clutch cover, 3 piece crank, as well as a host of other standard features most other saw have)

Thanks for the information so far everyone.

Echo is an American company http://www.echo-usa.com/companybio.asp

When I bought my CS71 two years ago, they said it was made by Efco/Olympyk

My CS200 is allegedly a Homelite

And Echo was supposed to be in between them somewhere but it must not have been long or only certain models.

And Poulan is in there somewhere

I have the 56, but I didn't buy it. Traded it - straight across - for a burned up old Stihl 029. For a brand new JD! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The other guy had received it as a gift from his wife, and didn't want it. He rebuilt the Stihl and sold it for a decent profit, and he's happy.

Me? I'm ecstatic!

Yeah, they've been Efco for a few years now.

<font color="blue"> My CS200 is allegedly a Homelite </font>

Yes, JD owned Homelite for a time. I think the Poulans were before Homelite.

I have a JD CS56 and a Stihl MS250. Both saws have worked great for me. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
