greetings everyone...We finally got our TO20 onto our place, so restoration can really begin. I am starting with the hood and some small items. Don't know about the engine condition yet...going to pull the plugs and squirt some Kroil in to lube for a few weeks before attempting to turn it over by hand. The 6 volt battery is quite dead,..thinking of going to 12 volt. I have the info sheets on how to do this. This TO20 at one time had a light kit on it, but they are missing now. The 'wings' and backup plates for mounting to the hood are still here, so I will need the lamps housings, but not the hood mounting hardware side of them. I have see some of the mounting 'wings' painted gray and some that were chrome or bright plated. I'm going to emulate bright plate with some of the new silvery paint that almost looks like chrome. This weekend I hope to pull the hood and take it apart, and drop off at the media blaster next week. It is really pretty straight, with only a small bend and crack at the dashboard end, and a slight indent on one of the lower front side panels. It should look like a million bucks with very little work. Lots to do with it! The throttle linkage is rusted in place. Fuel tank looks good inside, ..will pull it and clean up the exterior for sealer/prime in the coming week, and that will allow access to the frozen up throttle linkage. E-gads, this will take a long time.
Found the FENA, Ferguson Enthusiasts of North American club, and they have about 30 members in Oregon and Washington. I'll be joining the club and hoping that the local experts will be able to assist as needed in the coming year or so. I really want to get this tractor running, not just a painted static display.. Mike has joked about scrapping the continental 4 banger and finding a Ford flathead V-8...He saw some 9Ns with this done on Classic Tractor Fever TV show and really likes the idea. I guess there is kit for the 9N that has everything you need but the V8...but I drive a Corvette for the fast stuff and will be thrilled to just have the 4 banger running, as it was intended by Harry.
We might be missing one of the hood side badges....Mike thinks he took one home a while ago, but can't find it. DRAT@#$*&.... the other side and front badge need a polish and blue background paint. I hope that hubby is correct in his memory that we have the other missing badge here someplace, and if so, that he can find it. I have all the other parts that were taken home before, but they were big stuff like fenders.
Cheers to all, Jennifer
