I've heard of massey harris, and massey ferguson... and ferguson.. but not a harris ferguson..

You're correct......, Soundguy! She is a Harry-Ferguson. I had to think how to write that this morning, because I have been calling it a "Harris-Ferguson" since I got it, lol. Oh well. Its all good. I was in a parts store one day and I overheard a gentleman asking for parts for his "malivu"; I knew what he meant. However, since accuracy is a good thing I must let the world, AND Soundguy know that it is Harry; not Harris, lol. Back to the thread; the MF forum seems to be newer tractors and I am glad I have seen this. I am still learning about my HF and it seems to be a good little tractor and similar to one of the Fords. I had some power problems while mowing with a 6' finish unit, but I turned the high speed screw out 2.25X's and now she has power to spare. Happy, happy- Harry.

Most people just call them a ferguson... if you ever have to look up stuff for them that is likely how they will be listed.. not as a harry ferguson.
the T*-20 fergs will be similar to the 9n/2n fords directly.. and less so to the 8n.
the hyd pump and top hyd cover from a T*-20 will bolt right into a ford 9n/2n.. etc.

Thanks and, kudos to you for all of your help here on TBN. I've checked your "of the month" status and you certainly have some nice equipment. So are all of the Ferguson type tractors referred to as "fergies'; or just the HF's?

usually people refer to the straight 'ferguson' tractor as a fergy.. or something similar.. at least in my area, but not the the massey fergusons .. etc. I'm sure there are plenty of regional colloquialisms / dialects that have different references.

Time to buy a new battery. I seem to remember that the TO-20 has a Positive ground electrical system. Is that correct? My father-in-law had it hooked negative to ground.

negative or positve only makes a big difference if you have an alternator.
if you were hooked up as negative ground, and you had the coil polarity correct it wasn't an issue. if coil polarity wasn't correct.. it was a minor issue you'd likely never notice
it's a big resistance vs a big resistance plus a small resistance thing...
