Any Ford guys (gals) out there?

Bill, You did not mention if either was a 4x4. If you are contemplating a 4x4, I suggest that you take the F250 for a good test drive. One of the biggest differences between the 150 and 250 (besides the obvious size and payload) is the front axle. The F150 has independent front suspension, while the F250 has a solid front axle. So if you like the mushy, car-like ride of your Ranger, go with the F150... because the F250 will ride more like a truck than a car.

I drive a '00 Excursion, which is an F250 with back seats. I get 12 mpg around town and 14-15 on the highway with my 6.8L V10. But it is well worth it when I hook up the heavy horse trailer.

I believe the 250 is not solid front axle. You have to get the F-350 to get the solid front axle.

I am looking for 4x4 and a 8' box, most likely a super cab for suitcases etc. when we travel. The new 150 regular cab has more room behind the seats than older models, just not sure it is enough room.

I had Fords before my current Dodge. I liked them both, although the Calif smogged '80 F250 was gutless(400/auto). My '89 F250 4x4 with 351/stick ran good when I sold it with over 225k miles on it. With 200k on it, I hauled an 11' camper all over the western states, no problem.

I have a '01 Dodge I got new in '01, Cummins quad cab 4x4. I like it a lot., and would certianly get another, although I would get a stickshift next time, no matter Dodge/Ford/Gm.

Even though I really like my Dodge, and would probably get one again over a Ford, I say try them all! Try out the Dodge,, and don't count out the GM/Duramax. All of the "Big-3" make great trucks.

I rented a '03 F150 while having brakes done on my truck. Wimpy wimpy when you're used to a 3/4 ton. I put a yard of DG in it, and that backend just sank! 'Course, a 1500 Dodge or Chevy would have too...

I really liked my Fords, and still like the new ones. I sure like my Dodge too though. I use it to haul tools, go duck hunting, haul material, haul my Kubota, haul the Bobcat, firewood ect. It does everything I could need.

I've got a 2000 F250 Super Duty, V10, 373 gears, standard shift, 8' box, standard cab. I just checked the gas mileage last night on the way home - 13.8. I've been averaging between 13-15 MPG driving it back and forth to work (20 rural miles each way). I have 3 heavy trailers that I tow regularly with it. The V10 has plenty of power, and has been a reliable truck (except for a recent transmission rebuild /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif). Ford and the dealer covered 75% of the cost /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I plan on buying another one just like it next year.
